I know he has been pretty solid for us the last few years but after this season why would they want him?
We won 9 games all 9 of which I would consider us to have superior talent across most of the board. And we lost to Pitt and Michigan both teams are awful!
We have 1 good win and 2 solid wins.
I hope he stays because I really like him and think the program has trended up since his arrival but he is coaching at one of the elite schools in the nation as far as football goes we would win 9 or more games every year. Its the University of Notre Dame for Christ's sake.
Why would they want him?
Why would the Eagles or any other NFL team?
Like you cody, I don't see it.
Perhaps it's his offensive philosophy. "Call and Haul" suits NFL franchise QBs so well ... if their built like Bobby Douglas. He was exciting but it slips my mind how many titles the Bears didn't win with that attack.
Perhaps it's his defensive philosophy. Aggressive play and turnovers aren't important. Preventing big chunk plays is the way to win. Four quarters of prevent defense on Sundays? Diaco's defense IS Kelly.
Perhaps it's his Special Teams Excellence. Goodman may have a future as a NFL Fair Catch Specialist.
Perhaps it's player development. Kelly did squeeze every ounce of production out of Rees's lesser talents. It's the 5 Star/high draft choice QBs he struggles with. First move would be trade Stafford for two sixth round QBs.
I like Kelly. Best thing for ND FB since Holtz. But like Holtz, I don't see him successful in the NFL. He has a style that suits college FB.
Hell, Saban like Holtz, ran back to college FB. "Schiano to PSU?" is a current headline. Of course what qualified Schiano for the NFL anyway. After 9 years as a HC at Rutgers, his only gig, he was 68-67 with only season with more than 9 wins.
On the other hand many owners have the Dennis Green model implanted in their brains. Green coached 8 seasons at Northwestern and Stanford and only had one winning season.
