They also basically laughed at the notion and kind made it sound like it was a dumb fan question to even ask about Fisher. Meanwhile Lugg was already hurt probably when they recorded.

So was the beat completely in the dark about this? It was never even hinted that it was a true possibility or that Lugg got hurt last week.

I believe OSU has a starting safety in the portal also, any word on if he’s playing?

Schweitzer and Barnes on the two deep. Very interesting.

Agreed.

With Botelho moved to Rover it makes sense for Schweitzer be next man up behind Foskey/Justin A. But, he’s also a natural Vyper to Will guy for Freeman. Spent time in HS as an off ball LB. Even though Razor thinks he’s useless, it wouldn’t surprise me if at 6’4 225, Freeman can find some use for him.

I’ll get really excited if Barnes is making a move. It’s not that I expected him too but I wanted to see one of the Freshman DB’s make a push before seasons end. Is this that? Or just nobody else? Can’t say I know but I’m similarly interested.

On Carmody, Matt Freeman said he was told Carmody lost a good amount of weight during the season. No clarification on why.

Did I just read that Botelho is moving to rover? The heck?

He actually played Rover towards the end of the season. If you listen to what Freeman said today, it makes sense. Botelho needs to play but it’s hard to take both Foskey and Justin A off the field at the same time. So, they’re trying to find ways for him to help now. He specifically mentioned that this is for now and not necessarily his future. That will be done in the off-season.

Interesting. I actually thought he looked TINY for a left tackle early in the year when he was playing. He looked like he needed 2 years in the weight room and to gain about 20-30 lbs before he should have been out in the field.

He and Correll on the left side together were way undersized and you could tell neither had the strength ro play LG and LT at this level quite yet. I think ultimately he could up being a really nice guard for us down the road once he physically develops.

Apparently, the band won't be traveling, which is both a massive bummer and a complete blunder by ND's administration.

Not only are band members finding out about this literally the day prior to heading out (some have already left), but this also leaves family members out in the cold.

It would make some sense if the band wasn't fully vaccinated. But they are. This just doesn't make a lick of sense.

I would assume the University wants to play everything as safe as possible.

Sorry about the band... but kids in it who are already there will be treated very well im sure.

Less people traveling means more chance the show goes on... I for one am 100% behind it.

Sorry, but I'm absolutely not behind it.

I was initially, but when I was informed that the band was fully vaccinated, that turned my opinion. The point of mandating vaccinations was so that this kind of thing was possible.

Not to mention how insanely short-notice the announcement is. I've spoke with a few parents of bandmembers, and they're definitely and rightly pissed at the school.

Are the parents at the bowl already anticipating junior to be there? I'd be pissed if that's the case and I was there.

Listen...

I'm gonna be honest. I'm not dialed into the thoughts and feelings of ND's band's parents. It must be kind of a bummer.

I also agree with you that if everyone is vaxxed and boosted, fuck everyone else and everyone should go.

But its not the reality right now. The university is making the best decision given the reality as it is, and in my opinion, I want the game played.

Maybe we're getting close to the point where we as a society can say, " Hey, listen... you have access to the vax... its free...if you dont want to get terribly ill and keep the people in your community safe... we've done everything we can"

I think that time is cloae... but its not here yet.

As I said before, the band is fully vaccinated.

What is the point of them not being able to travel when they have been given the vaccine designed to prevent them from contracting the virus?

Also, even if the purpose is to mitigate traveling, that's just not realistic. Kids are going back home and they're coming back to school. Again, this is why they were mandated to receive the vaccine.

And it's especially stupid for an organized group, where they can feasibly test for symptoms upon leaving, arriving and returning.

Yeah, basically they got word straight from the kids' mouths.

And yeah, they're super pissed. As are the kids. The university has essentially lied to them, forced them to get vaccinated so that they would be able to do these kind of events, and then they do exactly what's asked and are told, never mind, you're vaxxed but you're still not allowed to go.

I really do agree with you on a lot of levels Balki. Maybe I'm not being articulate.

I think we've done everything as a society we can. I think maybe it's time we start thinking about washing our hands of it because we've done such a great job.

I think the University is rightfully being overly cautious because they want the game to go on.

Whatever. It is a bummer for the band kids. That seriously sucks. I dont think you can blame the school though. This is a moving target right now.

I sincerely believe that very soon... we as a society are gonna throw our hands up and say "do whatcha want" because we've provided every solution.

Band isn't flying with the team. Doubt they would have any impact on the team playing.

I hope a band alum shows up at the game with their trumpet.

If true, this is a major copout. If you take that stance now, why let the FB team play?

ND administration is a bunch of cowards, and part of me wonders if they think there are strong odds that the game isn’t played and they’re just trying to limit their overall financial exposure.
