ISIS

CNN just broke into their Ferguson coverage with a live report from Iraq. Anna Coren who is embedded with the Peshmerga troops announced they re-taken the Mosul Dam with the help of American air power.

Kudos to the Kurds!

The best thing the Pentagon could hope for is others putting boots on the ground with the US providing an overwhelming air attack. It's been accepted around the world since the Gulf War that no one stands a (conventional) chance against American air superiority. The problems of occupation are off the board here, so I expect the Kurds, with NATO assistance, to wipe the floor with ISIS in Iraq, or at least in Kurdistan. After that it'll get interesting; I have no faith in the Iraqi army to finish the job.

Assuming ISIS is gone, what happens? Do the Kurds get independence, or remain autonomous as part of Iraq? What happens in Syria? What happens in Iraq? Do relations with Iran improve? I would think that the folks in charge of policy in Washington have had enough with creating power vacuums in the Middle East. If Syria wasn't basically allied to Russia you'd think there'd be a way to actually help them out. There is no reason Syria can't be a Jordan (secular, peaceful, good relations with the west, etc).

I've wondered for a while now how Iraq still has so many combat aged soldiers...they've been at war for so long and lost so many soldiers. i guess this might be all that anybody still knows how to do...fight. It's not like too many kids are saying, "my dad was a reator or insurance broker...that's what I want to do when I grow up". I can't see them ever healing themselves after these years and years of war.

Anybody else ever seen that movie Prophecy? It's about this weird Bear/Pig/Wolf creature that runs around killing campers in the woods. The scene where a dude who is stuck in his sleeping bag yet still tries to flee and the bear pig wolf thing hits him so hard he flies into a tree was crazy.

Warnings about this org has been communicated for a while, we could of squashed them before they gained momentum. Another fail from this administration.

Don't believe we will ever squash them. The Admin did underestimate them and have some pretty tough decisions moving forward on how to deal with them.

We had our chance...and blew it. So much for the "JV Team." This beheading is barbaric.

Yeah I agree. Stunts like that will start swaying the American public more and more about dealing with these idiots. At some point it's gonna happen. Will be interesting to see what the President does moving forward.

There is no reasoning or logic with this kind of atrocity. What exactly do they expect to gain by doing something like this? It only angers Americans further and puts the bulleyes right back on themselves but again were not talking about rational individuals.

They have nothing to lose and everything to gain in their eyes. They kill us, the infidels, they create their utopia and we kill them they go to heaven. These fucking pieces of shit need to be wiped from the earth and unfortunately their young would just step up to fill the ranks.

I'm sure whatever it is, half the people will disagree with it.

Well, over 65% don't currently like what Obama is doing in relation to ISIS. He could bomb them back to the stone age and gain 15% in the polls. How's that for a public opinion bump.

My guess is that 15% is too high. He'd lose even more of his democratic supporters and not gain a single republican supporter.

Don't know about that. Been some Dems coming out this since this past weekend saying they would support more involvement. A few going as far far as saying they would support boots on the ground. Many more of these videos showing Americans being beheaded and I think more from both sides of the aisle join up together.

Ah, the Daisy Cutter. I'll have to point out to Mrs. BGIF that it's more gentile and PC than "NUKE'EM!"

Sooo ... it's bomb that's not Jewish?

Or maybe a tool used by a Mohel at a Bris?

Genteel, maybe?

Technically it's not a bomb but kind of a schlong attached to a bomb so the bomb explodes a foot or more above the ground surface. It was developed by a Luftwaffe pilot to maximize lateral damage rather creating a crater.

Genteel, maybe?

Not goy, genteel by comparison. But it would still result in knocking off your schlong or at least converting it to schmaltz up to a mile away. Mohel not required.

Mea culpa!

My wife, sweet and demure as she is, had a follow up line to her comment. It had the same number of letters as the first line of President Whitmore's quote but two letters were different in the first word.

Bless her heart.
