I'm a big Superman fan, 60 days until the Man Of Steel. I just hope to God they get this Superman film right!

Oh I'm sure they'll screw it up...this is modern cinema we're talking about. Lots of stuff blowing up and not a plot to see. I like that they made the costume not so 1940s though. haha

But the Cavill is a solid actor in my opinion...far better than Routh. He's also absolutely JACKED UP. I'm hopeful that it will be better than Superman Returns.

Costner can't hurt the film either.

I actually have really high hopes for this movie. Nolan has amazing vision for movies, but is an average director. Synder can direct one hell of an action movie when he wants to. I think this ends up being that superhero movie that many people think should've gotten a serious consideration for a non-technical oscar but doesn't because it's the oscars.

Also, I was a huge fan of Snyder's Watchmen. I thought that graphic novel was a classic case of "un-filmable". Synder proved me wrong on that.

agreed....Nolan was the perfect guy to produce this film and I expect it to be similar to the dark knight trilogy, not as good, but similar...

I was a kid when the Christopher Reeve movies started coming out and liked 1 and 2 even if slightly cheesy. Looking at them now, looks like designed for kids and super faithful to the beginning of op Supersede mythology. This one looks like more adult and in line with the recent Batman and X-Men (minus the Ratner one). To be honest though was always more a Marvel guy and have liked most of their recent movies. I will be in the theater on May 3rd for Iron Man 3.

I still believe Superman The Movie and Superman II are two of the best super hero films to date. I'll put them against the new Batman films, Iron Man and Captain Amercia any day. The later Christopher Reeve on the other hand are way too campy and slap stick. When the producers replaced Richard Donner with Richard Lester the franchise took a turn for the worse. Too bad.

This is why I suspect it won't be great. Superman is meant for 10 year-olds, not jaded 35 yos. He is the good guy that just does the right thing because it's the right thing, like a Luke Skywalker or Aragorn. Trying to make him something else in order to make him more compelling just undermines the foundation of this charachter. He's either superman or pointless.

Long story short, the post-modern, post-American, post-Chrisitan world is just too cool for Superman. Hopefully I'll be surprised, I like Nolan a lot.

The older movies with christopher reeves gave this impression to alot of people, superman is a ' boyscout" so to speak but in no way is he built for only 10 year olds. I dont read comics really but for what i have been told by a close friend who is a die hard superman fan is in the early comics it was pretty deep. He was a confused man torn between two planets.

Just went to the Thursday 7 PM premiere showing. I Thought the movie was incrediable. It also received a standing ovation from the audience at the end of the movie. I just so happy Superman got his due at the movie theater. I'm going to the IMAX showing Friday afternoon.

So will they erase that last POS attempt at a Superman movie from all recorded history if this one does the brand proud? Made me think Richard Pryor was underrated as an actor.

I'm not going to give anything away but it stands on its own as a Superman film.

My local paper gave it a 2.5 out of 5. Said it was dull and Nolan should never have bothered with it. Probably still gonna go see it.

I'm curious as to if that is because expectations were high, or it is really just mediocre to them. Anything with Chris Nolan's name on it these days comes with very lofty expectations.

Im going to see it tonight, alot of the reviews are saying its too dark......you can thank marvel movies for teaching the general public to believe that every superhero has to be a carbon copy of Iron Man

I have no idea why the critics are dogging this movie. I thought it was really entertaining. Loved everything except the relationship between Lois Lane and Superman/Clark

What is it about Superman that gets critics all riled up? It is a 57% on RT (by far the lowest superhero movie of the last few years), and 5.5 on IMDB meta score.

I haven't seen it, so can't form my own opinion, but these ratings have me a wee bit apprehensive to go see it now.

I don't know if this correlates in any way but some of the comic book "nerds" I work with have no respect for Superman. They don't like the fact that unless kryptonite is involved, he's literally unstoppable.

Then I told them that kryptonite is not even in this script lol.. That got the eyes rolling. I'll be going to see it tonight or tomorrow, not sure yet.
