Long time visitor of the site, and I finally decided to register to get rid of the ads!

Been an ND fan since my grandmother would walk around the campus pushing me around in a stroller while my Dad and grandfather were watching games (that started in 1968!) We have been sitting in the same seats since my Dad graduated from ND.

I am originally from Chicago, moved to Muncie, IN for work, and about 5 years ago moved to Joplin, MO for work. I have 3 kids - all 6 years apart. My oldest daughter went to Purdue, and my son will be a senior in high school, and he is thinking about going to Arkansas. Hopefully my youngest daughter will want to go to ND!

Lifelong ND fan, as is everyone in my family. Went to law school there. Was there for our undefeated 2012 season. No one can tell me Jaylon Smith is better than Manti Te'o.

Sometimes showed up to law school is more accurate.

Isn't there a saying 'you can't tell me what I already know'
So you're right. We can't tell you, because you already know.

Nice. Speaking of that, they just called me and asked if I wanted to donate money. I'm pretty sure I've already given enough.

Lol yeah can say that again but I still donate to get in the alumni ticket lottery. More than paid for itself this year with Texas and BC.

Welcome, very curious to here why Manti is better then Jaylon? From a leadership standpoint? Sure he might have Jaylon beat by a little bit but other then that I'm curious on how you believe Manti is still than Jaylon?

Manti made a larger impact on games. He lead the defense, and note just in a rah rah way, but as someone who had a very advanced understanding of and ability to read offenses. He showed up big in big games. Jaylon is a stud and will be a great in the NFL, and has been great at ND, but despite all his talent he has not had the impact on games that Manti did.

Also there has been this general move to rebrand Manti as a Joe Schmidt like guy who wasn't an elite athlete or player but just a good leader with a lot of heart. The reality is Manti was and is a great athlete, as is evidence by his play in college and in the NFL when healthy.

Manti is a better leader, Jaylon is quicker/more athletic. Both are great LBs, you can't really go wrong.

To be clear, I think both are excellent players. However, in my opinion Manti made a bigger impact on both the game and the defense. I'm not talking about rah rah leadership stuff. I'm talking about being the QB of the defense. Knowing where to be and when to be there. Making big plays in big moments. Their stats are comparable, but Manti's are a little better. People want to rebrand Te'o as a grinder and a guy with heart, basically it is a way of saying he wasn't super talented or gifted. Almost everyone has jumped on the boat that Jaylon is such a superior athlete and on another level than Te'o. They conveniently over look how athletic you have to be to make the solo tackles, have the interceptions, play in the NFL, and do what Te'o did. Although probably not as athletic as Smith, he was still a great athlete, and he was certainly athletic enough. Right now I would say Te'o was a better college linebacker, but depending on the rest of the season, and if he were to come back next year, Jaylon could end up surpassing him.

Welcome to the site. I too was a long time lurker (mostly because I was at sea) and transitioning to a poster with this great group of fans has been really rewarding. Hope you enjoy your time here and welcome again!
