Really? I would have approached Mullen, maybe an NFL coach and a host of others. The old argument oh they would not come is silly, many other universities would not have found their gem if they did not cut bait.. I don't want to argue this because we are STUCK with him. No one else wants him, NFL does not, not any other other big school (minus the silly rumors put out by his agent) We are what we are (Stuck ).

And TBO, Meyer was great at Utah, but the success he had at UF was beyond expectations. Ditto for what Saban has done at Bama. He obviously was good at LSU, but his championship year was the only year (in five) that he lost less than 3 games. He too, has over performed to expectations.

I didn't ask who you would have hired. I asked who would've been the ND coach if BK was fired.

Personally, I'm OK being stuck with Kelly until a proven winner at a lower level is there for the taking. That's what ND has done in the past (Ara, Lou, BK) with the ones who have been successful. Saban, Meyer, Stoops, and Dabo aren't going to ND.

Ha. Good old Gruden. Speaking of, the town I live in is also home to one of UT’s big boosters. A guy I work with called his son the other day and asked what the heck was going on with the coaching search. He tells him a bunch of boosters had been to Tampa to meet with Gruden and were close to getting him but Haslam wanted Schiano bad and had the AD hire him.

I love these crazy coaching searches. I’m predicting fat Phil talks Gruden into the UT job and it puts an exclamation on the most insane coaching search of all time.
