Anyone see anyone creditable talking about possibly upgrading at OC?
I could see a scenario (probably in my dreams) where MF is quietly trying to find a replacement while moving GP back to TEs. If Deland does leave, he could move Gino to RBs since he’s been an RB coach in the past.

Then again, I could also see them run it back with Gino as pass game coordinator and Deland as run game coordinator.

Shrugs.

I looked him up. He seems less experienced than Parker.
ND really needs to get someone with a shyte load of experience so that Freeman can hand the offense over to him completely.
Look again.

In 2019 he was the OC at William and Mary. Now he's the UNLV OC and a candidate for open G5 HC jobs and P5 OC jobs four years later. He's runs an offense that is incredibly innovative and successful everywhere he's been. 36 years old and he's moving up the coaching ladder fast. Doesn't just happen. This isn't someone's brother or son who has good ol boy connections either. He knows ball and he's grinding his way up.

Oh, you guys worried about recruiting? He's very good at that too.

Marion would be an excellent hire. Upper deck home run that sails far and beyond Brian Hartline or Tom Herman.

My only concern is turning over the scheme to the GoGo Offense means you might have to scrap it and start over when Marion moves on. But that's small potatoes.

Maybe Brennan Marion is The Truth, I’ve no idea. He does seem intriguing. But after all the whinging about eXPeRIeNcE!!, I’d chuckle at dumping Parker for someone with even less of it.

imagine seeing GP mentor a young quarterback.
Pretty sure that's what a QB coach is for...
All he has to do is hire a proper OC.
It really is this simple.
Something to note

Dear Lord Baby Jesus
I looked him up. He seems less experienced than Parker.

The difference here is other schools actually want to hire this guy. So it's already an improvement.
Loy doesn't believe there is anything to this

I, for one, always turn to Hawg Country for my heretofore unreported Notre Dame coaching news.
If I had to hazard a guess, it would be that it’s the Barry Odom connection. Odom was Arkansas’ DC prior to getting the UNLV HC job

Marrion seems a bit too....gimmicky? People are claiming he's transforming football and no doubt, it looks like some of his concepts have been adopted as change-of-pace/trick plays across CFB but... by his own words, it's an offense built on up tempo, 90+ plays, rapid movement built to wear out the defense.

The problem is what this does to your own defense, whether the offense is successful or not. I'm not a football coach so someone with experience feel free to explain why this would be a great hire for ND (I realize it's highly unlikely anyway).

A year from now, Freeman will look like a genius or he dug his own grave. No in between.

If he brings him back, it's going to be a long, long offseason around here...

Alternatively, if he were to find an experienced OC, the excitement in the offseason would be palpable. I can't imagine Freeman is ignorant to the concerns we all have with Porker running the offense next szn with an inexperienced QB.

We all witnessed him digress with the most experienced QB in the nation.
