I'm not. I'm saying it was 24-17 to start the 4th quarter and a lucky fumble by NC State prevented them from potentially tieing the game. Certainly not every drive was super today, we had 6 punts, and a missed FG. The INTs late by the defense broke the game open as well as breaking NC State's will. Defense came up big in the 4th to allow us to pull away.

So defense made plays, he called plays to score TDs in those quick change plays and he called a bad game? Gotcha

I don't think we score this much against NC State with Rees as OC. Maybe future Rees once he learns from Saban.

GP had a few calls that were not great (flea flicker, goal line package on 3rd and 2) but I give him credit for not panicking and grab bagging. After an iffy start he figured out what worked.

Where did I say he was a terrible play caller? I didn't. I provided some context to the 45 points. We had 24 points going into the 4th quarter and a lot of missed opportunities because of struggles early on offense. I gave him credit for capitalizing on the defenses turnovers late in the 4th. Relax, my guy.

Greathouse offensive PI, Evans drop, penalties. Always hard when mistakes happen, but everyone stayed with it and I love the boot action. The seam was also there all game long.

I have no real issues with our OC in this game. This NCState defense is tricky. 3-3-5 with unexpected overloading. You either have to outguess their DC regularly, or create a lot of misdirection which includes some options, plus good QBing. He waited a little too long, I think, before going with the misdirection --- I think he believed we could just overpower them. Early on, poor performance by our OLine's right side proved that nothing simple (especially on pass protection) was going to be easy. (Spindler, who was solid, was constantly being mixed up by the announcers with Coogan. Fisher still had lots of trouble with outside speed.)

The big post-rain Estime run was an example of great OC reassessment --- we went unbalanced line (Alt lining up outside Fisher to the right,) and that buffooned them. He returned to that a couple of times later and it continued to work. He found, I believe, later that more than one TE in the patterns worked --- and may have been a little late recognizing that too, but he got there. Sam rarely had anyone to throw to early, hence trying to force it to the only WR he really trusted at that moment (Thomas.) NCState was often in a two shell alignment rushing only three on those passing downs.

As others have mentioned: it's hard to score big off these guys. Just because our defense helped as much as they did, doesn't degrade the accomplishment much. .... and Tommy would have done just fine too. These two are both good coaches and aren't in competition. ... my two cents.

I was worried in the first quarter...but honestly, the dude settled in and dialed up a good offense. This is the first real team we've faced. He did well.

If Evans doesn't drop two drive killers we score more.play calling was fine. We are still holding back imo.

I'm with Ulukinatme. We only had 16 1st downs (State had 20). We had chunk plays on broken coverage, and an Estime 80 yarder and Tyree a 65 yarder. We were just ok at moving the ball today. A lot to improve on.

It was a very good 2nd half performance. 1st half needed work for sure. It was a tough defense too.

Looked like we ran it down their throat. Got a lot of positive runs in 2nd. Took advantage of their overly aggressive lb’s. Golden and secondary were studs.

All I know is that it seems he can make adjustments! I haven’t seen that in a few years. It was ugly at first, but he figured it out. Good for him!

Field position was terrible until late. Once we got a short field we had them. Penalties screwed us up on offense a lot, and we didn't execute well for much of the game. None of that stuff can be dropped on Parker.

Only bitch I have about Parker is he kept running inside when it obviously wasn't working. The 80 yard run was it. We had a bunch of 0-2 yard runs and kept pounding. I guess they were fooled by the 3-3-5 look. But they almost always had a 7th guy in the box. Their safeties were the weak link in their defense and we didn't attack them enough.

But when you score 45 on a good defense you really can't complain. Good job!

Agreed. The first few drives were rough. He just seems to have an excellent blend of rushing/passing plays with never being overly predictable. Pretty impressive yesterday considering the defense/environment. Could have scored even more. Hard to complain about Parker so far. Quite happy with him.

My feelings on Pork Chop are on hold. It worries me that he's 1st time and the HC is not an offensive guy like Rees had in BK (for better or worse).

The final score and total yards are misleading. The defense gave us points, and 16 first downs and 40% of our offense coming on 3 plays is concerning to me.

Yesterday we looked human, but he was always going to grow on the iob, so no reason to be worried yet.

After the crappy decision on 3rd and short I went and changed my shirt to Irish Wear Green. Things happened after that, you’re welcome. The penalties and drops were crushing as they prevented us from getting that rhythm going. I wish we had attacked the seams because they were there all game long. Was Hartman forcing balls to Thomas early? I missed the first quarter because of kids sports.

This is a BS take. If they had 30 first downs and 400 yards of offense you’d be complaining that there was no explosive plays.

Would not be at all. You want consistent movement and big plays. But if you can only have one, give me the chain moving drives. Texas stat line last night is what you want. Same yardage as us, big plays, but 8 more 1st downs.
