To appease the mouse, here is my first—and likely only—serious take in this thread. I will then return to gifs, memes, and random shitposting.

I find Gerad Parker(sic?) to be a genuinely likeable dude. I can understand why it seems that players within the program were pining for him to get the job. I don’t see his character as being “Gomer Pyle” type schtick. I think it’s who he is. I also think it’s somewhat of an asset to his motivation to have the backlash at the level it was. We are going to get a dude who is even more motivated than maybe he even was before to recruit his ass off, coach his ass off, and gameplan his ass off.

What remains to be seen is if he can actually do those three things. I’ll give him a chance, because, well, what damn choice do we have? Maybe we’ve got our own Jim Bob Cooter on our hands. Buckle up.

Also, here is my proposal as the new “bat signal” when an offensive recruit commits:

Not saying this pertains to Parker. But a general rule I’ve formed over the years is don’t put much stock in press conferences. I’ve seen some coaches give the best presentation and sound smart and put pure crap on the field and vice versa.

It's weird to me that people think a joke over the initial misspelling of his name == people want him to fail. Only a total clown would wish Parker is anything other than a success.

Whiskey woulda dropped down the hammer instantly on these nefarious acts. The balance of the moderating universe are thrown off causing chaos on Notre Dame

If he does what he says he's going to do, this is going to work out just fine. Alot of people can talk out of their ass, but I am rooting for him. Hire a great Oline coach and I'm ready to roll.

“Nobody is more charged to do this job than I am,” said Gerad Parker, 42, the Louisa, Ky. native and former Kentucky wide receiver who set the high school state record for career receiving yards (4,814) 24 years ago.

“Every morning I wake up from this point forward (will) be to put my feet on the ground and make this the right hire for Coach (Marcus) Freeman and everybody in this organization.

They was a very good quote from yesterday.

The hiring of the OL coach becomes such a huge component of this. At the end of the day, Freeman says right out in the open he wants to run the ball and it was why they looked at Klein and Ludwig to begin with.

They need equal or better than Hiestand. That isn't Chris Watt, simply put.

anyone think there was a coincidence that Parker dropped an "aww shucks" after that tweet used that exact term about him.

No, I think he is smarter and wittier then people think. I think he is a great football coach, and a smart guy.

My only concern is his play calling. Will he be able to adjust on the fly to what oppo DC's are throwing at him? Will he say, they are stunting and getting home, we need to run more draws or screens. Will he dial up a deep shot at the perfect time?
Can he put together a high power offense, one that can score at will? Is he willing to put in the effort of to scheme up new ways to use the offense? IS he a nerd, who will at the drop of a hat draw up a play on a McDonalds napkin then implement it (type things)?

These are my fears/questions.

I don't see how he can be any worse than what "Rees's the pieces" was at many times! I loved hearing Tim Brown call him out saying he was to the point to when he wanted to rap on the window and ask him for the Call Sheet! LOL

I was thinking about this, and I would have been more comfortable with this had they named Gerald and Gino CO-OC's.

Too many cooks spoils the broth. I’m sure Gino will be heavily involved with the game plan anyway.
