Just call him Gerry. Is it pronounced JAIR(like hair)-ED? Or Jer(like the start of jersey)-odd?
Can anybody who is shitting all over this hire tell me any of the following about his offensive coordinator abilities?
What type of offense does he run?
How does he use his personnel?
What were common formations and/or tendencies you saw in his offenses?
How do you feel like his other assistants helped or hindered the offensive philosophy or production?
Where do you feel like his offenses underachieved in comparison to the talent level of the personnel and how he used them?
How did his personnel at the time match up to the personnel he will have at ND, and how does it fit the type of offense he runs?
Why should we not expect the offense to take a step forward, but rather backwards?
When at Purdue, what qualities do you feel the higher ups saw in a TE coach to make him the interim head coach versus any of the actual coordinators? Leadership? Knowledge? Obviously there was something to pick him versus the other coaches.

Just call him Gerry.
I get it. I just want to hear all of the people with strong negative opinions articulate their own thoughts, because I am guessing 90% of them dont actually know jack shit about him as an offensive coordinator. I'm not saying he was the right, or wrong hire, but want to hear from some of the people who already know he is a huge mistake as to why.![]()
What If: Gerad Parker as Notre Dame’s Next Offensive Coordinator
Notre Dame is still looking for its next offensive coordinator. Could he already be on staff in another role? Irish Illustrated takes a look at one candidate.247sports.com
No. But that’s not really the main issue. The main issue is that those are probably difficult questions for he himself to answer. Can anybody who is shitting all over this hire tell me any of the following about his offensive coordinator abilities?

Behind Holtz, Kelly is one of the great turn around coached in CFP. ND fans didn’t know how great they had it. Kelly had to fight Swarbrick at every turn to invest in the program. Now Kelly is gone and he has turned around LSU already. We’ll see. Frankly, I couldn’t care less if we are the 5th to 10th best team so I don’t understand what your obsession with “top 10 programs is”. Can ND make the playoffs under Freeman? Sure, why not? People with the same attitude said the same things in 2018 and 2020. We have a lot of talented veteran players plus our best class in a decade coming in.
And for all your BK excuses, maybe something to think about is how he was always out-coached in big time games. He hardly ever beat another contender, and when we did under him, it wasn’t due to any sort of genius gameplanning. If he had that capacity, things may have been different in his tenure. 2012 stands out as a perfect example. Alabama had the better team, but even more so than the talent gap the coaching gap was visible that night.
This is going to turn into a Larry Gergich situation from Parks and Rec. I gotta get me some media credentials so I can call him something different every press conference.
I wonder if he made a Faustian bargain to get the promotion.Just call him Gerry.

So you dont think its justified to make people support their opinion with facts or at least be able to articulate from their experience why they feel this way about him? Its fair to just say "horrible hire", "Parker sucks", etc when in reality they know very little if nothing at all about his offenses? Ok man...No. But that’s not really the main issue. The main issue is that those are probably difficult questions for he himself to answer.
Look, the guy may turn out to be great. But there’s nothing on his resume, nor much feeling in his own profession, that the guy is a star waiting to explode.
Trying to pretend that because people haven’t read his playbooks, gone to his coaching clinics, and interned under him are therefore unable to have an opinion on the hire doesn’t do anything to change the belief that it’s still a questionable hire by MF.
Again, maybe he’ll be great. But there’s also no objective info out there today to suggest he will be.

I honestly don't know enough about him, but that's kind of my point. I can't pass judgment one way or the other because I don't know enough to support claiming he is great or horrible, so I will just wait and see. So, what I want to know, is for the people bashing the hire and his abilities...what have they seen or know to support their very vocal opinions other than just saying he sucks and its terrible hire without any real knowledge of what he may or may not do or bring to the offensive room.I get what you’re saying, but I think if gonna go this route, you have to answer the same questions.
The well we both don’t know how good or bad this will be stance is almost a problem in of itself. Parker has no concrete experience to bank on (Ludwig) or suggestion of higher potential. He’s just a guy IMO.
Yep - ND should pay for track records and not on hope.I get what you’re saying, but I think if gonna go this route, you have to answer the same questions.

To say "he doesnt have any concrete experience to bank on, so while I am not super excited about the hire, I am going to reserve judgment until I see what he does" would be a fair and honest statement. There is a whole lot of very opinionated people on the board slamming the guy when they dont really know much about him.

OK, so my original post was to do just that...bring valid discussion to a message board from people who feel so strongly about him being the wrong hire, to discuss WHY?The let’s all just wait and see is just counter to it being a message board.
and again, you can hire someone you don’t really have to wait and see. Put it in sort of array manner, there are other candidates simply more likely to be successful.

I am not sure who said it but I do recall someone on here saying it. Let the Team pick Freeman would come back to haunt them.
Never in my life have I heard a current player or staff member at the school say "I don't know about that one..."Appreciate the enthusiasm Hunter but getting hired and being the right man for the job are 2 different things. Time shall tell….
I was talking about Parker.Yes he did. He could have gotten on the phone and called other options at OC. He chose not too. Now he has put his friends before his success. He was shot down once then settled that’s on MF.
This is a good point. MF may have had several internal conversations with these guys and decided he was the guy after Ludwig.Stuckey, Heistand, McCullough, Al Washington, and Al Golden were all big pulls last offseason. they may just like Parker and not think Ludwig is worth the extra $$$ that could go elsewhere. They paid big money for assistants last off season and for Freeman as a DC.
*Ron Powlus IIIThe prime character arc for Parker is if he pioneers a record breaking offense with Angeli.
Guess I found someone's burner accountDamn Parker really put Crazy Balki on his PR team immediately.
