It will only get better with the 2026 and 2027 classes I think the 2027 class could be loaded. And a lot of our top NFL talent still has eligibility after this year

There are some positions where it's hard to get drafted and it's easy to fall out, but really I think the starters are all NFL quality at some level, outside of the guys I've never seen play. The defensive tackles are where my doubt is. Mills was a 5th and Cross wasn't drafted. These guys aren't as good as them.

Mills dropped to 5th, because he got hurt late in the season and was out for the combine.

Cross dropped because he's a 6'1 280 lb NT. There's only so many Aaron Donald's out there.

I also wouldn't put it past guys like Hinish or Onye to match or even exceed Mills and Cross, especially if the 2024 version is what we're gauging it off of. Cross was simply not his vintage self in 2024. He was too banged up all year, and Mills was very good, but oftentimes would go hot and cold.

I mean, are we seriously going to doubt a Hinish at this point? He was arguably our best DT in the CFP.

Floyd was such a beast. It's easy to forget because of how his NFL career turned out but bubble screens where he ran over DBs was basically our entire offense in 2011. I'd put him ahead of Samardzija, who benefited from a MUCH better QB (and also great hair).
Tate ties Kyren Williams for favorite ND player of the 21st Century. Such a dawg.

Floyd is pretty unquestionably the greatest WR in NDs history. Tate and Shark are more fan favorites for reasons I understand but Floyd's dominance is sort of undeniable.

Most recieving yards in ND history.
Most recieving TDs in ND history.
Most receptions in ND history.
Most 100 yard recieving games in ND history.
Plus a ton of single season records.

And, unlike Tate or Shark he spent a lot of his time as an upperclassmen being thrown to by Rees. Love Rees as a Loyal Son and gamer but he's not close to Clausen or Quinn as a passing QB.

It's all very close for me. All the career records for Floyd are meaningless as it relates to this order. Besides, there's a decent chance that if Tate came back for his Senior year he would hold some of those records.

Tate came in and had to spend virtually his entire Freshman season learning to play the WR position. Floyd came in as a Freshman college ready. What Tate did his Jr year at ND was crazy. Floyd had the better overall career, but the list isn't asking for that.

Who would I take into battle? While I believe Floyd and Tate were really close, I believe that Tate had surpassed Floyd as the top receiver when he left.

Floyd over Shark for many of the reasons that others have pointed out.

Others will rank them differently, and that's OK because they were all great.

Dunno about @Ndaccountant, but pretty sure Floyd slept with my cousin :laugh: They were "good friends" and were supposed to go to a dance together, but had a falling out over his drinking and she went with Nate Montana instead. I've told this story before, but the night Floyd broke his collarbone against Michigan State he went out to dinner with my cousin and grandparents. My grandpa offered to pay for Floyd's meal, but he politely declined because it would have been a violation at the time.

Jack Snow, Tom Gatewood and Jim Seymour are feeling slighted! lol

Obviously they played in a different time, but Snow was an AA. Gatewood was also an AA and started all three seasons he was eligible (freshman weren't allowed to play back then) and set several school records. Seymour was a three time AA for ND and is considered on of the top 50 players at ND. All three played in the NFL.

Don't want to be too much of a buzzkill, but wasn't the same thing being said about FSU before last season?
