Pretty good video. TM was exuding some quiet confidence. He's going to have a break out season with Sam the Man driving the bus.

Al Golden hire was huge F up IMO.. defense should of been better last year with personnel.. hopefully coaches his ass off this year or Freeman just takes over for a year and fires him..

His defense was actually better last year than Freeman’s in ‘21, with a way tougher schedule against offenses.
He coached against OSU, elite offense, USC, elite offense, UNC, close to elite offense, SC, who was averaging over 40 ppg back half of season, Clemson.
If Golden was an F, what was Freeman?

Golden put out a pretty good product last year. I think people are giving Golden some side eye because his recruiting kinda sucks and the defense lacks NFL talent. The defense has plenty of really good college football players, but not a lot of guys you'll watch on Sunday.

By F+ the 2021 defense was 15th and the 2022 defense was 36th.

Traditional stats will overrate the 2022 defense because of ND’s offense burning clock and limiting possessions. What that doesn’t tell us is the progression arc of the 2022 defense.

Only real consistent weakness was stopping the run imo. If we can improve there against good teams we should be better.

The results would certainly support the notion that Golden is not a fan of modern-day recruiting. OK. Who is, really?

But the results that really matter for a coordinator will play out over our next 12 games, and Id guess he either performs well enough to get an NFL coordinator offer (which I’d assume to be his next career objective) or poorly enough that it’s not viable for ND to keep him, especially with lackluster recruiting, and he moves on to some lesser job like NFL assistant or maybe a G5 head coach.

Either way I’d be surprised if he’s our DC in the 2024 season. But I’d be shocked if he’s not our DC in the 2023 season. It’s too late to jump like that, and where would he even go?

Fall camp starts on Wednesday.
He isn’t getting fired in the next 6 days.
It is irresponsible for people to even float that out there unless it’s already happened internally.
And unless it’s already happened, he isn’t quitting on his players 6 days out, that would be career suicide.
This talk is all ridiculous & is a waste of our time.

Unless Golden fell flat on his face last year, he's was always going to be given at least 2 years to develop the defense. It takes time to pick up a new scheme and it takes time for him to see who excels in certain live situations. He made a number of player adjustments as the season went on.

Currently at Eddy st and the team is down here getting checked into the hotel.
Some thoughts
-I’m 6’2 290 and Schrauth made me look small.
-This is a big team in terms of height and length
-Rairdon looks like Captain America
-Due to the cars they are pulling up in, NIL is doing its job
-Audric scares me

Honestly, no news is good news the next month.
Usually only news is academic suspension or injury.
The more quiet the better.

What are some of the cars out of curiosity? We talking new Hondas and Toyotas are we talking Audis and Mercedes?

some of these guys may be getting scooped from airport. not sure how many out of state guys are driving back to campus. Perhaps some of the older guys left vehicles on campus?

However, I dont think its a secret that we are taking care of our guys at this point.

IIRC, they've been doing this for a while, ever since they stopped going to Culver Academy for camp.

They'll have the team in hotels for camp, just to get them off campus and focused on football during those few weeks.
