so the same guy that said we'd get blown out by Georgia by 20, Greg McElroy just picked us as #3 at the end of the season and in the playoff. He thinks we win convincingly this weekend and proceed to run the table...

he also said the UGA defense was weak back in July lol

I listen to McElroy and Zarzour on my way in to the office often just because they are on, and I will listen to anything CFB related in the fall.

The best way to describe the show and their takes is bland. McElroy does a good job scouting QBs. But other than that I feel like they have basic topical knowledge about all the teams and that's it (which is also ESPN commentators in a nutshell).

The best college sports talk is Bill King and his show is free every day on Soundcloud. It is Bill King at #1, then a canyon of nothingness, then I guess Mark Packer and the rest of them, then a valley of despair and Paul Finebaum.

I haven't really listened to McElroy in a couple years, but when I did, I thought he and Zarzour had done a pretty decent job of scouting, watching film, following recruiting, and traveling to get glimpses, first hand, of teams. Now, his takes may or may not have been wrong, but I thought he had always at least done his homework.

Which is WAYYYYYYYYYY more than 98%+ of his other peers have done. So I tended to cut him some slack, because he was at least genuinely putting in the work. Maybe things have changed in the last couple of years though, I don't know.

I'll have to check that one out.
I also like College Football Country by Josh Parcell. He has guests on from teams across the country and does a Friday top 5/6 games to bet on.

never gotten into broad CFB talk radio/podcasts. Just can't bear to listen to folks talking about ND when they don't follow the team closely

Literally every chaos scenario involves ND being 11-1, with the sort-of exception of UGA going 12-1 and getting in along with Bama.

If ND isn't involved, the SEC can still keep two of the Power 5 out. That is decent chaos, especially if Wiscy wins the B1G somehow, or if the ACC champ has two losses.
Could you imagine the ratings of a Bama - ND - OSU - Georgia playoff?

All of the hype. All of the viewers.

Trying to think of a fourth team that would optimize the hype and viewers over UGA... scUM? USC? Texas? FSU?

I really don't see how Bama, Georgia and ND can be kept out of the playoffs in the scenario mentioned. If you are really after the four best teams for the playoffs an unbeaten Bama, a one loss Georgia and a one loss ND would have to be three of the teams. SOS has to come into play in a big way. But I'm getting way ahead of myself. Let's see how we do in the next two weeks. Win those two and we could very well end up at 11-1.

Not FSU. Miami, day Miami only loss is to ND. There are a ton of Canes fans from the 80’s and 90’s still around.

If TCU and Penn State are both undefeated it would be very hairy.

Undefeated conference champs are almost guaranteed to be in. If TCU and PSU are undefeated, then you have them and the SEC champ in, with PAC12, ND, and ACC fighting for the 4th spot. That scenario doesn't look good for ND. We basically need the PAC12 and ACC champs to be either defeated opponents (NC State, Stanford, SC) or 2 loss teams.

ND needs one of TCU/PSU to lose a game plus obviously win out.

We play so much of the ACC that if we go 11-1, we're the de facto ACC champions.

The PAC-12 has essentially played themselves into a terrible spot regarding the playoffs over ND since they are guaranteed to not have an undefeated champion. There is no way an 11-1 ND gets left out for a 12-1 Washington or Washington St team that played like two tough games all year. If not those two, then USC or Stanford wins the conference and we would have the obvious head to head over then. That's just the way I see it.

Just one gets in. SOS kills both especially TCU.

I call bull poo. They won't keep out an undefeated conference champion of a Power 5 conference. A loss would end TCU, but if they go undefeated, they're in. They're not just a Mountain West power anymore.

IF ND goes 10-2 or even 9-3 I would like to see us against Wisconsin or Michigan in a bowl game we would spank both

Don't bet on it. Playing Jackson State as TCU did would hurt them. Committee puts heavy emphasis on the schedule you play.

12-1 defending champ Clemson would beg to differ. We're not getting in over them if it comes down to it.

Probably true, unfortunately. But would you pick us to beat them?

All this what-iffing about multiple undefeateds is kind of nuts. How many top teams lost last weekend? How many weeks are left? Almost everybody loses at some point. 2010 was the last time more than one team went undefeated.
