Alright, who is Cincy's Director of Recruiting and when should we be expecting them?
He graduated from Notre Dame in 2016, serving in several undergraduate roles with the football program.

Further evidence, to me, that ND is all-in on being in the "competitive" football division if a split ever occurs, rather than the "academic" division.

Also makes me wonder if there was a serious "come to [football] Jesus" discussion behind closed doors with the Super Secret Shadow of the Dome Council after JS said ND wouldn't participate in such a model...

I am sure NBC said if we are going to drop more cash on you we need you all to step it up a bit. If we're truly getting Big 10 or SEC (close too) than I imagine expectations came with it.

Does ND make all these moves if BK doesn't ditch the program? I suspect the answer is no. Or, at least, not this quickly.

This. The way I see it, purple face leaving Notre Dame was very much Notre Dame being called on the carpet and in a public manner. Notre Dame wouldn't spend money. So, purple face left (and for probably additional reasons). The admin and BOT were called out, saw the writing on the wall, and are now opening the check books.

i think theres a lot of folks with money they would have been willing to donate but just didnt like the idea of donating for BK's benefit. Not that hes gone that sentiment isnt there anymore.

The academic thing has always been a crock. They know what butters their bread, and it's that group of men that puts on the pads and dons the blue and gold. That doesn't mean that you have to sacrifice academics, but at the end of the day, the football program means so much to the university.

I agree. I also think the university (JS, BOT) caught a black eye on the Andy Ludwig fiasco.

I think this is more evidence that A. the ND community is 100% behind freeman and plan on keeping him long term expect a 8-10 year deal announced midway during this season. B. Jack Swarbick was holding ND back in a lot of areas.

Just filed: An unfair labor practice charge to the NLRB against
@NotreDame
. Similar to USC/Pac-12/NCAA complaint -- players misidentified as student-athletes. Involves all ND athletes. Will go to Indianapolis NLRB office

our irish have built some of the best facilities in the nation under Jack like as good of an indoor $60 mil football facility you'll see anywhere, an amazing ice hockey arena, top notch lax and soccer facilities that rival most and then last but not least as nice of mens and womans basketball practice facilities that you'll see anywhere.

I think there's been a very recent change. Obviously BK and Jack were able to make some nice updates to the stadium, training table, etc for players and the program to bring them into modern times. However, when BK walked away it might have allowed donors to put pressure on them to do even more than they had been. As happy as most of us are with Freeman, the thought of losing BK to LSU over cash and possibly insufficient facilities (The players didn't seem to feel this way) may have riled up supporters.

This is the best explanation I’ve seen…

I could be wrong, but after checking their web site, this looks like some individual who is trying to make a name for himself using college athletes. The web site looks like one you can build in about an hour. If you click on the media tab, it's just links to articles written by sports journalists. There's no mention of the number of union members, staff or any other info. Street view of the address on their web site.

Hopefully this thing gets thrown out. It's wild to me how slippery the slope has been since NIL became a thing. The greed knows no bounds. I would have been pretty happy to get a free education from a prestigious university while playing a sport, then to get cash on the side to boot? Anything more feels excessive.

Pretty encouraging quote from Pete Sampson last night! From:
'Don't let people trick you into thinking that Notre Dame does it the way they have always done it just because they like to say that they do. There is a pendulum that swings from one side to the other about how in you are to football. They're really into football right now. Notre Dame is pot committed on football right now, and frankly on Marcus Freeman. In a way that if you're a fan that's a little bit skeptical of "Do they want to win as much as I want them to win?", the people making the decisions now want Notre Dame to win as much as you want them to win.'

So that's why Pete took a 3 week long European vacation during spring camp. He knows he'll be busy covering a championship season and all the high profile tampering they'll be doing to reload for a repeat
he was actually in Australia and French Polynesia on a cruise he said
