Figured this deserved its own thread.

Link to the collective: FUND Foundation

From the website:

University of Notre Dame student-athletes will support nonprofits to help fulfill their charitable missions by doing philanthropic work in the community in a variety of different capacities. The student-athlete will receive a stipend and the charity that they are an ambassador for will receive a financial donation.

Wish I held out for this rather than the IPC, but glad to see this become public after a couple months of secrecy.

Relevant:

"If a donor feels strongly about a cause, player or program, Quinn said the organization can adapt to that intention."

The collective focuses on the current roster, not prospective student athletes... but I wonder if they will adapt that flexibility to fit into conversations with certain high school players if a donor feels "strongly" about a guy like Dante Moore.

This is the group that has been meeting with Marcus since January at least. That their YouTube meeting leaked for a hot sec.
Correct, this is one of two groups getting off of the ground. This one was way easier to sell to ND admin -- FWIW, I wholeheartedly agree with the mission statement, the devil will be in the details (re: implementation) -- and will be focused on taking care of current players who are "doing the right thing" on and off the field. IMO, this is a good foundation to build NIL on because you already hear about locker room divides and other issues at Texas, A&M, and elsewhere for the recruits getting paid big $$$$ who haven't done shit yet.

I’m sure The Mayor might be doing charitable stuff regardless but another possible example

Quinn is the perfect mouth piece for this. With him on FSR in the morning there will be opportunities to promote this.

Can you spill the beans (little teaser) on the second group? Or is it just the NFT one?

The second group is more a traditional “sports marketing” group where they’re looking to throw money at HS prospects to sign them to a licensing deal where they will have their marketing rights in exchange for cash. The sticky point here is that the admin is staunchly against anything that could be considered pay-for-play and this is treading into the gray area that other schools are currently playing in.

Thats really interesting and exciting info about the "2nd Group" Lax. Thank you.

I could have this all wrong considering how intentionally confusing the NIL "rules" are, but don't they specifically prohibit a university from being involved in it at all?

If thats the case, what would it matter if the admin was staunchly opposed to it or not?

In all honesty does the admin have any day what players do in NIL? If they wanted to do this could ND actually shut it down/ oppose it?

Admin has to track and approve all NIL deals. Crazy, but that’s the NCAA rule.

Honestly, that second group should just call the Admin's bluff. The NCAA doesn't actually require the school to approve it, just that a state law or conference/school can have reporting requirements.

From http://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/ncaa/NIL/NIL_InterimPolicy.pdf
3. Individuals should report NIL activities consistent with state law and/or institutional requirements.

So once again this would be ND holding itself to an artificially higher standard than its competitors.

I'm starting a new collective called "Enemies of Michigan NIL Collective". I'll pay sums of money to recruits who tweet out Michigan being in their "Final 2" and choose the other school. I'll also pay for using the NIL of any recruit or student-athlete that kicks Jim Harbaugh in the balls and sends me a video of that.

Your donation is tax deductible. Please send all donations via Venmo to @CoachBetaJim4UM

Can’t wait to see the behavior of every moron who donates $5 to a collective and now thinks they pay the players.
