I don't think he's an alcoholic, calling him that is kinda jumping the gun, college kids drink...and drink a lot. I had 4 underages from 16-20, and am the furthest thing from an alocholic. But, I never drove (bc I always wanted to be a cop, and I knew that would ruin any ambition of that). He should have known better to then to drive around loaded, especially with what he has to lose. These prima donna's need a reality check
Coach has done the right thing. He has also chosen his words carefully to indicate the priority of the law and the University in this decision to come, but also being open to the possibility that Michael might re-join the ND community and the Team sometime in the future.

Floyd actually has two previous underage drinking citations in Minnesota.
According to the Hennepin County Courts, the 1st happened on May 15, 2009 and the 2nd came on January 8th, 2010. Both times Floyd worked with a court hearing officer to keep the citations out of court .
In the 2nd incident, Floyd and Minnesota running back Shady Salamon, who were former Cretin-Derham Hall prep teammates in St. Paul, Minn., were cited after police were called to a fight

Floyd's 2nd underage drinking citation came less than a month into Brian Kelly's tenure as the Notre Dame football coach.

So, how long? That is the question... What's standard USC or SEC procedure dictate? I say we follow their lead since they seem to have set the standard when it comes to bull**** like this.
Bull****. I say we live to their standards... They want us to be subpar. I know it's ND. I'm just tired of our athletes looking like convicts when they get away with murder for lesser charges...

Basically, my bitch is this: The NCAA relies too heavily on universities on making their own decisions. You have the black and whites, and the grey U's. (gray?)
Nonetheless, we grant them full privilege of aiding the process of money laundering BS when we don't act all in congruence. They need to decide how a student athlete is dealt with. Let Res Life handle their end. Beyond that, so be it. I understand they have dual implications. However, student athlete should have dual roles...
I said it and I'm guilty. You know why? Because in South Bend, I met two of the biggest hater(s) of ND football you will EVER meet. They weren't cops. Now exponentially increase that. Welcome to their world... (The student athlete.)
They were Meat Chicken fans born and raised South Bend; and other than their sports afiliation, they were cool mother ****ers. So I KNOW these simple minded geeks threw the book at a guy they could have let go because he was "The" Micheal Floyd.
Put that on my dog, boys...
not everyone who gets a DUI or has an underage needs "help"... it's just a bad decision.. people make bad decisions... I don't know Floyd personally, but based off of the reports of his drinking (2 underages and a DUI) I'm not ready to call him an alcoholic and say he needs help.. guy made a bad decision and is now going to pay for it, but for me he doesn't need to "get his priorities in order" because I have no idea what order his priorities are in right now.. and don't come at me with "well drinking is obviously more important than football".. guy made a bad decision let's not over blow it to say he's out of control and there are bigger issues for him than football
I personally think that would be the most beneficial to him as a person.
Just a question, and just a thought. I know ND has a policy of "in loco parentis" ( long but interesting article - maybe Nanker or SirDishands or OMM or the BigIf will read it... The Soul of a University // News // Notre Dame Magazine // University of Notre Dame) and will take care of this matter as a parent would.)
My question in general is why should a University or its fan or haters feel obligated to add to punishment that should be left to the legal system?
And I have a question also, to my fellow fans: Did Floyd return for Floyd? Did Floyd return for Notre Dame? Or did Floyd return for himself?
