Wake with another big play down to the FSU 13. EJ Manuel's accuracy is unbelievably bad. I mean it's seriously horrid. Wake's RB is shaken up and it's 2nd & 5 on the FSU 8. A TD here would be huge and given them a very good shot at holding on for the upset.

Wake got it down to first and goal at the 3... and then a holding call basically has them at 2nd and goal at the 15 now. So, barring a blocked field goal, it's looking like it's going to be Wake up by 11 with ~14 minutes to play in the 4th quarter.

Im enjoying this game. Maybe a loss today and a few more in the coming weeks will slow their recruiting down and help us out with a few of the guys we are going head to head for. Plus, it is a good day any day FSU, OSU, USC or Michigan lose.

I'm glad Virginia got the win. Crazy finish to a game that I thought Virginia wanted more. Florida State was just flat. Should be a real interesting game next week between them and the gators.

I know for a fact that if UVa wins next week we play Virginia Tech (would be so awesome, that team will be top 5 this week and is totally not as good as that ranking). But I'm not sure what happens if they lose. Hypothetically we could play Georgia Tech, UVa, or FSU looking only at record.

While we wait for another full week for this playoff to start, I decided to watch the 93 Florida State game for the first time since it happened. I was in HIGH SCHOOL(!) up the road at South Bend Clay at the time.

First of all - OJ Simpson was on sideline duty - I had completely forgotten about that.

I remember thinking Charlie Ward was ass at the time, but on rewatch, he really WAS terrible. What a complete media invention. Missing guys left and right in the first half. No composure, looked just really weak. He didn’t do much of anything until halfway through the third quarter when the Irish Defense settled into ‘protecting the lead’ mode. Wasn’t impressed then, still not now. He should never have won a Heisman.

Also, we dominated that game, it shouldn’t have been close. Jeff Burris dropped three easy ints, and Lake Dawson absolutely had hands of stone. I don’t remember him being that bad at the time. Two unsung heroes from that game who hardly get remembered, John Covington and Lee Becton.

If only they could have held that BC game, they were really an incredible team, maybe Lous best.
