Anything off of College Dropout is classic. After that he confused weird for genius and became one of the biggest douche bags on earth. He is basically the dude version Lady Gaga (bought his own hype; overrates himself; dresses/acts like a freakshow). If I were to see him somewhere I'd slap the **** out of him. That he is popular now says way more about the audience than it does about him.

That round definitely goes to the South Park writers, but to be fair it is an epic mismatch. Trey Parker and Matt Stone are as brilliant as they come in terms of ripping people apart (see: The Book of Mormon, almost any South Park episode) and Kanye isn't exactly Eminem. He should stick to making beats.

Are you freaking kidding me? Cool South Park ripped someone, it really did not ruin his crediblity or anything and it was 2 years ago and it didn't mess with sales. Kanye is the best mainstream hip hop artist alive right now, he is the most creative and can maintain sales and credibility. There is a reason he has 18 Grammy awards.

Who said anything about currently? Eminem's biggest gift was going after people in songs. I don't even know if Eminem is still making music, but in the history of the genre he is the person who I'd least like to make a song about me. On the other end of that spectrum: Kanye.

I doubt it. More people go to Burger King everyday than Five Guys. More people order Pizza Hut everyday than Bertucci's. My guess is that more people eat at Red Lobster than Legal Sea Foods (I'm not saying Five Guys, Bertucci's and Legal are the epitome of great food, just that they are clearly better than more popular competitors).

Also, Kanye didn't do anything on his own. He rode Jay-Z all the way to the top. Kanye is a great producer. As a lyricist he is embarrassing.

yes, but they are 2 different styles. Enimem is a free-styler, and he is by almost all accounts, unmatched as a free-styler.

my experience says that you cant be the most creative and mainstream at the same time. unless he is creatively producing songs for the mainstream (that scenario is to make money, not because of creativity). but 'most creative' tells me 'cutting edge' and 'cutting edge' and 'mainstream' do not go together. Mainstream is always watered down, and once a genre hits the mainstream, its over.

one of my favorite rapper is Ice cube, but once he hit mainstream he could never be the same. Can you see Ice Cube today making a song called "The Ni**a ya Love to Hate" or "Get off my *ick, and tell your B*tch to Come Here"

1. Jay-z didn't promote Kanye West at all, and thought he would not be successful due to him not following the typical jersey wearing gangster rapper.
2. You listen to Eminem and are calling me unsophisticated, the same Eminem who has not made a good song since 2003, or had a good verse since 2009. People love Em for no reason now aside from what he did in the early 2000's.
3. Have you listened to Runaway for creativity? Or Gorgeous for lyrics? And various other songs, he isn't the best MC (title belongs to prime Nas) but he makes the best music as of now.
4. David Bowie did the same thing when it came to him being unique and Bowie is one of his many influences. He's egotistical and everyone knows that, he is a doushebag everyone knows that, but he is great at everything he does.
5. Every album he has made is above a 75 on Metacritic, His worst album is his experimental album 808's but that still influenced so maany people like Drake, Jay-z, and Kid Cudi.
6. I would venture to say critics aren't unsophisticated fans.
