I'm gonna go with a dislike on the beard. Kinda makes him look like he should be out back churning butter or milking the cows (or possibly even milking the bull...as was the case with Roy Munson).

Freshman LB Troy "Hercules" Niklas is indeed largely sized, but also running with third-team 'D' right now.

Shouldn't surprise anyone. How was he going to pass Shembo/ Spond or Fleming/ Williams to make the #2 at either OLB spot?

Since I'm a "newby or noob" (I haven't studied my internet lingo yet) I wasn't sure how to post the picture correctly. Also, since a lot of you are on top of everything I'm sure you all could find a recent picture easily.

Just messing with you. Welcome.

Also, I think its "no0b." :awesomewo

I didn't see this anywhere else, but TP tweeted this short segment from media day.

Would love a summary if you're so inclined.

Pretty much gave a play by play of the part of practice the media was allowed to watch, which was live scrimmaging. It was mostly 2s vs 2s and then 3s vs 3s. Crist had a couple of really nice plays, especially moving around, but he also missed a throw or two. Golson was pretty good running the ball but both he and Hendrix had a some passes batted down/intercepted. Kelly got on Daniels pretty good for not running a crisp route. The defense was the stronger unit, but the offense did have a few really good plays too. Lynch was unblockable, threw around Prestwood a little bit. Tuitt was good when he fired off the ball but wasn't consistent with that. Niklas blew up a couple of plays and had some nice hits on Hendrix.

I'm going to start having nightmares about Crist being innacurate again this year... I was really banking on him improving.

Nice recap... only thing I can add is............

Hendrix- Struggled
Lynch- Is what he is, a playmaker if it was 100% live, he would have had a kill shot on Crist
Tuitt- Needs to work on pad level (Plays a little high) not Miami high, but literally too high
Niklas- Quicker than fast, makes up for it with size and agility
Walk On safety had two picks off of deflections

I don't have access to the article but from what you said above it seems similar to the Brian Hamilton and Jason Sapp twitter feeds from today. Both were in attendance an giving play-by-play updates. I've added those feeds below if you feel like going through them.

I love hearing stuff like this. I'm excited to think in a couple years how much battles like these will pay off when it becomes a young player's time to step in and be counted on for serious minutes.

I remember several years ago during the USC heyday, announcers, writers, and Carrol himself would talk about one of the things that made them so good were the intense, competitive practices they were able to have every day...within their own depth charts.

Sorry if this has been posted. Just came out an hour ago. Pretty much confirms what has been said.

Rees is looking more and more like our starter.

Plus: The Practice highlights on the same page make me more than a little friggin nervous about the offense. I guess it could be that our defense is just that good but............

Didn't BK say Reed was going to get a lot of the first team reps this week since Dayne got most to start with?

Yes, he did say that. It seems that both Crist and Reese are having good fall camps, to me it doesnt matter who the starter is. They both have experience and both can lead this offense

If Rees earned it, than I am all in. I am with you guys though, I would still be suprised if Crist wasn't named on Tuesday. If he wasn't though, it will be because Tommy put in the work to flat out be better than him. That would say a lot to me.

Who is this walk on safety with the two picks today?

That pic of Lynch is scary. Dayne is a big dude, and that pick looks like Lynch is literally sparing his life.
