Kelly said they would focus on placekicking today so makes sense that Doerer would win the recognition, but nice to see Phil get mentioned.

Two positions on this team that can't afford injuries:

QB and OL.

There are depth questions at several other positions, but relying on young OL that still need to add weight/strength is terrifying.

OL is better off than LB (imo).

My thought-process is that the dudes playing LB are going to be learning on the fly either way, but whoever steps in, they're at least physically capable.

That might not be the case once we get down to our 7th offensive lineman.

From what I've seen, Carroll is "first ten" OLinemen but not "first eight" --- i.e. those who actually are played. "First Eight" this season seemed to be the starters plus Lugg, Kristofic, and the now-refurbished senior center/guard Ruhland.

So, Carroll's injury cramps but does not cripple.

... a second injury however .....

Correll or Carroll?

Carroll is out for the year, and though he might have been an eventual backup at RT, his loss doesn't hurt.

But there is another rumored injury that hasn't been confirmed. If it's to a starter, then it's a big issue, IMO.

There are a lot of people banged up, I do not think there are any other significant injuries to the OL right now. There is certainly no other "long term" injuries I've heard of to OL coming out of yesterday's practice.

We'll just go ahead and chalk this up to Coach D doing a Coach D thing.

RS SR Trevor Ruhland
RS SO Josh Lugg
RS SO Dillan Gibbons
RS FR John Dirksen
RS FR Cole Mabry

There’s 5 guys who are bench OLineman who are at least two years into the program. I think they should be able to find some backups and injury helpers from this group without needing the freshman. I’ve heard Carroll’s plan was always to redshirt and instead of playing 3-4 games he’ll play zero. It sucks but if a starter were to go down then you’ve at least got Lugg and Ruhland who are experienced guys. Don’t know much about Gibbons, Dirksen and Mabry other than Mabry seems 25lbs under weight for a P5 OLineman.

Wrap them ALL in bubble wrap from now until 9/2. Not joking either.

As someone previously mentioned, it was Coach D doing his thing. Said he was told Zeke was hurt on the OL as well, but that he's out there practicing today.

Driskell being cryptic as hell saying Caroll isn’t the only OL injury he was told about, but he won’t report on them until they get confirmation.

Panic and anxiety quickly builds on IE.

And IE collectively breathes a sigh of relief.

OLinemen like the collisions and the fight --- no bubble wrap for them.

... and, random thought on Gilman: Consensus AA this year as well as being Captain (the latter we know, and it will help with the semi-blind media's opinions.) We could have five AAs of some level or another just on defense.
