F$U the ticking timebomb

I know we have the J Winston thread (or multiple threads) but feel this is going to need it's own thread over the course of time. With Karlos Williams and his domestic dispute and multiple other examples of lawlessness that goes beyond the ring leader, we need a separate thread. Mods, go ahead and merge to the JW thread if you feel it's appropriate.

This sh*t is unreal. You can't make this up.

P.J. Williams of Florida State Seminoles only gets two minor tickets after being involved in early morning hit-and-run accident, according to a report - ESPN

According to the Times, Williams, driving with a suspended license, hit a car off-campus at 2:37 a.m. on Oct. 5 -- just hours after the Seminoles had beaten Wake Forest 43-3. Both cars were totaled. The paper reported that Williams abandoned the wrecked car and fled, along with Darby and another unidentified passenger, before returning to the scene "approximately" 20 minutes later.

The Times said Williams, the most valuable player in last season's BCS National Championship, was not tested for alcohol or even asked by Tallahassee police if he had been drinking prior to the accident, and that two ranking officers from the Florida State University police department, who lacked jurisdiction, arrived on the scene but failed to report the incident to the school.

Really? Really?

It's comical at this point. Yet reading Warchant...they truly believe they are being "targeted" like it's some giant conspiracy that their trashy players are behaving poorly off the field for their morally bankrupt program and scumbag Jimbo Fisher. They all deserve each other down there in Tallatrashy.

Yeah it is amazing. At some point, something has to be done. Can you say Loss of Institutional Control? I mean, places like Bama and LSU are win at all costs but this? This is way out of control.

Worst thing is nothing will ever happen to the program. And if it does, these players will be long gone...and Jimbo bolts like Pete.

Actually, even worse is those empowered to protect the public, "cops", are letting them slide because football in Tallahassee is most important. What? Does someone have to die before it becomes "out of control"? Complete joke on so many levels.

And the NCAA...ha, I'm curious what they even do anymore.

Complete train wreck and to think Darby almost came to ND. Can you imagine being a fan of these idiots? Having to cheer every game for Jameis to throw a TD or Darby to get an INT. I'll throw up now.

Neither of them, though, can even hope to catch up with the old Miami Hurricanes.

They'll never get them for loss of institutional control... They've been in full control of every situation thrust upon them. FSU police keep stuff on the down low like the MIB.

Try living here and listening to the ridiculous persecution complex these people have on a daily basis. I'm friends with the owner of Warchant and several of his employees. It's downright embarrassing to see the people of Tallahassee make excuses for borderline, if not outright, criminals.

Every day, after the most recent FSU incident of the day, I stroll over to Warchant thinking that "this time they have to see the light. This time not even the biggest apologist in the world could look past this incident." Nope. Nary a sign of personal accountability nor any sense of responsibility. Just one massive almost comical tone deaf persecution complex. I couldn't cheer for a program of that nature.

It is bad enough these kids are screwing up but it's the adults that are really letting them down. How are they ever going to grow as men if no one ever enforces the idea of right and wrong and consequences for your actions? If I ever have a son I will never let him entertain the idea of attending Florida State in any capacity. This is beyond just Jameis Winston is a screw up or Jimbo Fisher is an epic scum bag...Tallahassee itself is rotten to the core.

Love how the media never brings up Uncle Urbie.

Many people can throw out many examples...it's all fvcked up, college football.

Just be happy that you're an ND fan. The way we handle "things" is out of the norm.

No more bitching about the four/half a fifth suspended.

Heck back then the Canes were trying hard to keep pace with FSU. Bobby's boys were always in trouble and all Bobby would ever do is say, "Awwww they're just gooood kids."

Seriously. I was real dissapointed in how Darby has turned out. Maybe its the crowd but seriously what is the TPD doing down there? Marshall law?

Someone who I hadn't seen for awhile ask me if I was still into college football. They knew I used to like it so much. I told them 'no'. My reasons where almost word for word what Wingman just stated. I told my old buddy I was justa Notre Dame fan now. College ball has become a joke that has been left to the Finebaums/Slives/Jimbo Fishers of the world. Pete Carrol would be proud.

When will the NCAA step in. This stuff is getting ridiculous.

What follows are general comments. Prompted by, but not directed toward the scUMster.

The NCAA serves at the pleasure of its members. The relative power of its members is skewed. The leading members of influence are "enamored" by the revenue that is now television driven.

Dominoes are marionettes. Moves are dictated by "invisible hands" or invisible strings. The NCAA is hamstrung.

Goose – Golden Egg?

Puppet regime? Front? Beard?

Martial Law is extreme control. The only control of incidents at FSU (and other no-holds-barred institutions) are attempts to control reporting, responsibility, reaction and repercussion.

Marshall Control it may well be.

As others have pointed out, what's going on at FSU isn't a loss of institutional control. It's total institutional control. The football program runs everything, with the administration's blessing. They're doing whatever they want and basically daring someone to tell them they can't.

And who's that going to be?
The administration is totally in the bag (Did you see the letter FSU's president wrote trying to poke holes in the NYT report today? Can you imagine Fr. Jenkins doing that?). They're just enabling the program and feeding the persecution complex.
The NCAA is useless. And even if they wanted to, most of this doesn't actually have to do with athletics and doesn't really fall in their purview.
It almost has to be the state police and/or the Governor stepping in to investigate. No idea the politics there, but that seems unlikely. That or enough good people in the FSU community stepping up to say this has gotten way out of hand. I'm sure they're out there somewhere.

Can someone give me a cliff notes version of why Pete Carroll was so bad? I mean, aside from the obvious of being coach of USC.

Do whatever you want with no empathy, no consequence. Lie, cover up, rationalize circle the wagons. All for the sake of money. "Put your humble face on, humble pie. Here is your chance to get people on your side." It is psychopathy. The players behavior is conditioned, taught. It is also looking at the symptoms. The problem is much deeper. I don't think all of these kids went there with such morally corrupt minds. Florida State is IMO creating sick, pathological, people. That is scary. That needs to be stated unequivocally and the people responsible, people like Jimbo Fisher need to be confronted with that truth.

Is it an NCAA violation if the police undercharge a motorist?

I'm not defending the situation just asking which NCAA rule this comes under.

Unfortunately, a lot of the crap going on at FSU doesn't really fall under the NCAA's realm of authority. They have little or no authority when it comes to simple bad behavior or even criminal behavior. They can do something about academic fraud, impermissible benefits, lack of institutional control as it pertains to academics, recruiting, benefits, and etc., but local police having a see no evil/hear no evil attitude towards athletes and letting them get away with anything, or a coach not disciplining kids and holding them accountable for their behavior are outside the NCAA's control.
