Jesus wept...

Damn you, Ed Woodward.

Would I have wanted him at United, obviously yes. It's definitely not a guarantee we get Sancho, but I doubt we could have pulled both Thiago and Sancho off and RW is a more glaring weakness than DM.

Liverpool and City this year are going to be nuts. Chelsea is going to be nuts offensively. Gonna be interesting.

It'll be really fun to see what excuses Mourinho gives when he isn't winning.

City obviously won't have a drop off, but I am unsure if Ake alone gives them that defensive piece they need to take it to the level they should be at.

Gomez/Matip still have to be better. Alexander-Arnold needs the defensive protection, because he MUST play, but cannot really defend all the plays (especially the physical back-side.) Though in many ways Robertson is not as good offensively as TAA, Robertson is much more willing to hammerhead it in there when that's necessary (he is, as we know, a little TOO chippy some of the time, but I like the physical attitude.)

Bayern just obliterated Schalke 8-0. Will post a montage of all the goals when its available, but this one Muller scored was particularly choice.

I dont understand Bundesliga because a lot of these teams seem to do very well in Europe only to get absolutely shitkicked by Bayern in the League. Schalke seems to be on the receiving end of these from Bayern regardless of who is coaching or playing for them.

One day that sleeping giant club will get its poop in a group.

Per James Pearce:
TWO DONE DEALS.....
* #LFC sign Diogo Jota for £45m on a five-year contract. Initial fee of £41m rising to £45m.
* Ki-Jana Hoever going in the opposite direction in a £13.5m deal. £9m guaranteed/£4.5m in add-ons. #LFC have negotiated 15% sell-on clause

Schalke is about to be a shit show. McKennie was the top player when healthy for them and he left with no replacement. Caligiuri was their next best and he is gone too with no replacement. The only transfer in was a 36 year old Vedad Ibesivic on his last legs. They’re gonna be lucky to stay up.

Schalke's screwed. They won 1 game in the 2nd half of last season - a whole 9 pts. If their 1st half hadn't been ok, they would have been relegated.

Their finances are bad, too. They can't bring anyone in and will sell what little young talent they have. I'd bet they get relegated this season. It's too bad because they have a large fanbase and the Revierderby is good for German football. But, there is nothing positive in their near future.

So glad the Man United game wasn't being shown on tv so I didn't have to watch the shit show I read about. Apparently Lindelof, Fosu-Mesah, and James didn't belong out there. Not sure why Wan Bissaka was out, but come on.

Hopefully this lights a fire under Woodward to get Sancho and Telles done.

Would love to get rid of the dead wood and bring in...literally anyone

Yeah, we have a good bit of players that just don't play. I figured at least Lingard would be gone by now, seeing as Raiola is his agent. Still surprised Smalling hasn't completed his transfer to Roma officially yet. Romero should be gone seeing as Henderson is now the back up (might be the starter if De Gea keeps playing the way he has been), Phil Jones, Rojo, Dalot, and Pereira could all go and we wouldn't miss them.

Lindelof has quickly replaced Ashley Young in the "want to punt my TV every time I see his face" role.

Thiago was on for 45 mins and already looks like he has been with the team forever. Completed more passes in 45 min than anyone on Chelsea in 90 mins. How the hell did Bayern not lock this guy up is beyond me. World class.

Weston McKennie started for Juve this weekend. Did pretty good.

Who woulda thought 5 years ago the US would have 4 players that were all developed for the most part in the US playing for top 4 clubs in the EPL, Bundesliga, and Serie A. Throw in Konrad De La Fuente getting some minutes for Barca. Lots of upside

Gio looks like the real deal. If we can get him, Seargent, Pulsic, McKennie, Adams, and Dest on the field and locked in, we could have a very good national team. I am very much unconvinced by Behalter though :(

ETA: Dest sounds like he is having to choose between Barca and Bayern rn.

They offered him an extension. He took four years and less money to play for Klopp in England. Wanted a new challenge.

He's Liverpool's most decorated and accomplished signing ever. World class player in his prime. Doesn't get any better.

Fabinho was excellent at center half yesterday but I still want them to bring in a fourth center half knowing that Gomez and Matip can get knocks here and there. There is a guy from Schalke that they're looking at. If Liverpool can strengthen their back line a bit more while everyone else is chasing wingers when they too need help in the back, it's going to be a win win once the window closes. Way too many teams can't defend pub teams right now and time is running out.

Haven't heard much as of late on Koulibably.

I thought I read somewhere that they weren't going to stop going after him, as he was going to be too expensive. However, anything any journalist in Europe says right now is only half true.

Buy back clauses should be banned.

I think they do wonderful things for young players' development. Clubs don't really have too much incentive to use a struggling player who is on loan, but if he is there on a 'permanent' basis, it is very different.

Oh I totally get that. Certainly helps spread out some talent but I'd think the more appropriate method would be to give the prior club the opportunity to "match" based on the player's current market value rather than a value determined often years before the player develops.

I.e. Madrid sells some young kid to Lyon for $15 million. 2 years later, Chelsea bid $85 million, Madrid can match that rather than the current practice of buyback clause of $35 million or whatever it is.
