Bobby Firmino is some player. Their entire front three does the work, Liverpool. Salah isn't quite in top form yet. Imagine.

This weekend, have to assume Klopp rests some regulars at home against Southampton. League Cup row next week vs Chelsea, then on the road to Chelsea for the League match.

Neymar is tremendously overrated. Hype with a poodle hairdo.

MBappe received one of Klopp's famous post match opposing player hugs. He gave Neymar a handshake.

Spurs didn't buy any new players this summer. I fear that will cost them.

Messi gets a hat trick against PSV Eindhoven because...it's Messi and PSV Eindhoven?

Glad to see the two American boys did well in their matches.

Neymar has never been the same since the 2016 season with Barcalona. If i remember correctly he statistically had his best season in 2015 and Barca won the treble. 2016 He was himself, and then his last season with Barca there was the obvious drama, his ego was huge, and his marketing team just blew his brand up so much that hes now not able to live up to it, and honestly his fitness looks questionable and his attitude on the pitch is totally different from that 2015 season. He has been completely consumbed by his ego at this point.

Neymar is a little girl and an black mark on the game... if he refocused the energy he puts into diving and rolling around into being more gritty and fighting through tackles, kind of like Messi for example, he could be one of the greatest players ever... but....

Brutal takedown of Neymar and PSG here by curmudgeonly Jonathan Wilson.

Neymar reminds of a lazy, selfish, whiny, and less physical version of Mousa Dembele (the Spurs one). He's an AMAZING dribbler, not so amazing when he has to do anything else.

And to be clear, I don't mean that as any kind of shot at Dembele, who is a good center midfielder. I just mean that what I see when I watch Neymar is just an amazing dribbler who isn't really succeeding in doing much else, or (unlike Dembele) really even trying to.

Liverpool really outplayed PSG and PSG are a GREAT side. One interesting thing for me: Milner, Wynaldum, and Henderson are three of the most underrated midfielders I've seen anywhere. By themselves they are "average" but together and with Klopp's crazy-press philosophy, they are superb. As good as Keitha is, Liverpool droops a little bit if he is substituting for one of them.

Also, in the PSG game, Liverpool should have been granted the Salah goal --- Mane (I think it was) got to the ball first and slid into the keeper. This game should have been at least 4-2. Robertson is stunningly good. Alexander-Arnold is getting there. DAMM these guys are entertaining.

As to Neymar: he's as good a skills guy as I've seen. And I believe that the World Cup hysterics and the response he got has changed him for the better. His deficit now is that he refuses to play defense. Liverpool exploited the he!l out of that.

Loved what Lyon did against City yesterday. Go right at City and give them a go. That's the only way anyone has managed to beat them. Wolves may have gotten lucky but they did the same.

If that Nabil Fekir guy ends up at Liverpool, oh my. Could be January or it could be June, but if that deal winds up happening, look out.

Liverpool are probably disappointed the B Squad dropped out of the League Cup, but they got a good look at Chelsea for this weekend and they won't have League Cup matches going forward, meaning they can train instead.

Not all is lost by any means.

Manchester United need to move on. Too much drama. Mourinho is in Year Three. So it goes.

Yeah, losing is no fun and it's disappointing that Liverpool didn't get the result after playing so well for most of the game. But it's some comfort that Liverpool will be able to get that much more rest so they can be that much fresher for the Premier League and Champs League games.

Completely agree, the sooner the better. Ideally Zidane comes in and smooths things over with Pogba and they can save the season. Not sure what saving the season is at this point though.

It will be nice for them to enjoy a deeper squad, with or without League Cup ties. League, Champions League, FA Cup still left.

Hazard's goal was excellent. Typically it would have been Van Dijk, Alexander Arnold and Robertson he'd have scored it against. Those guys haven't been letting many goals through so far this year.

Amateurish comment by me: Soccer seems to me to be a sport where you can be TOO big. ManU fields a team which is gigantic. Whose midfield is structured anything like Pogba, Fellaini, and Matic? Add Lukaku and any two of their center backs, and wow. I, by the way, am of the minority group who really likes Fellaini, but still --- overall too big.

That team cannot possibly run with or out quick any of the other teams in the league, let alone people like Liverpool and Chelsea and City. Because goals are hard, and they've got a worldclass goalie, and you can occasionally head one in, they'll win some. But the game is mainly played in space-with-pace and down at ground level, not seven feet in the air.

In my opinion that team needs restructuring and not in the way Mourinho was crying about (getting more centerbacks.) They need Zip, Dash, and Flash, and, in short, The Ball. ... but as a Liverpool fan, yay Mourinho.

Puskas Award. Thoughts on Salah winning the award? Curious from the Liverpool perspective.

Oh I don't think this is amateurish at all ... it's a point many professional pundits are making about Man U. Mourinho has a longtime preference for big, tall, powerful players so he can set up to play defensively, dominate physically and in both boxes, and maybe score on the odd set piece--and it looks increasingly like the game has passed him by in a few ways. At the highest level, teams tend to dominate by overrunning the opponent (Liverpool) or suffocating them with possession (Man City), not with size and strength. That's not to say there's not a place for physicality, but the physicality you need has to include work rate and the ability to cover ground, rather than just towering over the opponent in the box.

Great goal, but how that won the Puskas Award is a head-scratcher.

Like even Milner said, it wasn't even one of Salah's best goals last year:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Congrats <a href="https://twitter.com/MoSalah?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@MoSalah</a> on your 7th best goal from last season winning goal of the year <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Baller?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Baller</a><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Topbin?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Topbin</a><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/oneofmanyworldies?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#oneofmanyworldies</a> <a href="https://t.co/OkNMlIsNLb">https://t.co/OkNMlIsNLb</a></p>— James Milner (@JamesMilner) <a href="https://twitter.com/JamesMilner/status/1044321520594677762?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 24, 2018</a></blockquote>
<script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

How is that goal better than that go-ahead goal in the Spurs game, for example?

https://www.nbcsports.com/video/liverpools-mohamed-salah-scores-his-second-goal-against-tottenham

Not to mention any of a number of other goals scored by him or others. Really a weird choice.

I think that people just like Salah. People WANT to give him applause and rewards. (me too, btw). The Heart does much that the Mind won't comprehend. (just look at our discussions on IE.)

I love Mo Salah, always have, loved him at Roma. Angry when we sold him. But, I disagree with that specific goal being, GOTY. I despise Real Madrid... but even I have to admit the Gareth Bale goal was by far the best goal of the season.

No doubt. Scoring with a bicycle kick on the volley in the Champion's League Final...

Goals don't get come better than that.

Insigne is on fire at the moment. His Serie A form is top of the league at the moment, and today he gets the game winner in a hugely important CL match. Bravo Lorenzo! Bravo!

Liverpool need come creativity in the midfield. If the rumors of Nabil Fekir rejecting an extension with Lyon are true, they need to move for him in January. The deal was done this summer and there is an interview out there with him in a Liverpool shirt talking about signing.

They'll need to revisit. Fekir is a good player and a captain/leader. More players like him will win you titles. Whatever the injury risk, it's probably worth it, especially with the staff Klopp has in place for physio and sports medicine.

It's been evident the last couple of matches they need a little more in the engine. The back four and front three are solid. A little tweak to the midfield and they're right there.

Huge match vs City on Sunday.

Wasn't able to watch much of anything this weekend, and that's prob a good thing... watching the breakdown of the Galaxy game, yikes... Lletget with his best Wondo v Belgium impression in the clutch and that AFTER blowing a 2 goal lead in a game where a win gets you in.... how does that happen??
