I guess City really isn't a club to develop at anymore. Mahrez is more of a finished product.

I mean, hard to say that when you look at Sane, Jesus, Sterling and Stones. Plus our academy is starting to pay for itself. It's just that we buy lots of young talent and sell later for profit (and with buy-back clauses). Mahrez fits a current need, being an experienced forward who will put away chances. Believe it or not we still waste too many chances, so we don't need another raw young forward right now imo.

Roberts miiight have had a chance if he didn't go back to Scotland this year. But ending last preseason behind Foden (17) and Brahim (18) in the pecking order was practically the end of the line for him at City.

Forrest took over that position for Celtic too, that didn’t help him much.

Sterling...50 million pounds before the market went completely batshit(was only mildly batshit at the time).

Sane...36-47 million pounds before the market went bananas.

Jesus...Brazilian, smart buy. Risky crowd to buy from.

Stones...50 million pounds. English defender, young guy. English talent always overvalued due to the quota. I get it.

Overall, reminds me a little bit of Chelsea a few years back. Easy to say "we sell them at a profit!" when you are a club that can take chances on a ton of young relatively unproven guys who have talent. With Chelsea, see De Bruyne, Salah, Lukaku, etc.

City has the luxury of saying, "We can spend "50 million on Sterling" or, equally relevant, "We can spend 30-50 million on (insert talent here)" that MIGHT be a reach, especially on the scale that they do it. Who spends 52 million on Mendy and 50 million on Walker and 27 million on Danilo in the same summer?

Liverpool is a top 10 club in the world in terms of wealth I think?

Liverpool can throw 30 million at Hoffenheim for Roberto Firmino in 2015. Or 40 million at Roma for Salah this last summer. City today(United maybe?), or Chelsea of yesteryear, could/would take those chances multiple times a window. I'm not blaming them at all, they have the money to risk. Spend money to make money.

Hope young Roberts does well wherever he goes. Seems like a decent guy.

Btw, i think Klopp is better than Pep. Klopp is such a beast he made Bayern a force that won 6 straight bundesliga titles because they were tired of losing to him.

Tough to know how good Pep really is. He's only managed at clubs with tons of yuuuuuge built in advantages. Barcelona (history, money, golden generation+messi), Bayern (German giants... his reign there was a failure though), and City (more money than God).

I agree. Klopp essentially pissed off Bayern to the point that they roided up and crushed everything else around them. No end in sight.

Klopp's legacy, for me, is where it all started. Mainz. It took a few tries, but he dragged them out of the second tier and into the Bundesliga. To this point, they have not gone back down since he brought them up.

Abdoulaye Doucoure on a potential move:

"Everton? No, that's not a step up for me. If I left Watford to join a club who's not better, that would be disrespectful."

I actually had no idea a soccer only thread existed. You all may be interested that my podcast just wrapped up our World Cup preview show and we interviewed notre dame head coach chad riley. I tried to post the show a couple times already and not real sure what I am doing wrong. Been a few years since I have posted much, so its likely operator error.

here is the link if your interested. https://soundcloud.com/east-of-the-bend/world-cup-preview-with-coach-riley

never mind me botching my opening we had near technical disaster that threw me off my game lol. hope you enjoy

Yup. My buddy is a big Liverpool fan, so we'll be having a party at his place for it. Can't believe I'm rooting for them...

Stoked. Also just found out my awesome wife got me tickets to see Liverpool v BVB in Charlotte this summer.

That'll be great. My buddy saw PSG vs Chelsea in Charlotte a couple summers ago and it was as electric of an atmosphere as you can get for a friendly. BVB has a huge base here now cuz of Pulisic and obviously Pool fans will show out in numbers.

My hope is Pulisic will be on Liverpool 's side at that time. Haha.

Everyone gonna watch the CL Final?

Heading down to the shore with some buddies and we're leaving real early so we get there in time for Villa vs Fulham (my best friend is a diehard Villa fan). We'll be on the beach for the CL final, and honestly that's by design. None of us particularly care for RM or Pool, to put it lightly.

Celtic trying to go all in on this ten in a row business,... sounds like they are trying to lock up Odsonne Edouard long term, rumored to be as much as 10 mil... that would smash the highest transfer fee ever paid by Celtic if true.

I might have my neighbor over (Hungarian immigrant who only watches 'football, your football isn't football'...) because he's a big Real fan. If he decides not to come over then I highly doubt I'll watch either. I too do not care for either team.
