Salah doesn't get called for offside last week but a perfectly good goal is ruled offside for us this time around smh.

So, I'm still a soccer noob compared to you guys.

Why was there an offside call on that no-goal just before half?

They were talking about the goalie punching the ball, and then whether or not someone was making a legit effort to play the ball... but there was Liverpool player damn near at the endline when the ball was played forward again, and then Sane netted it while that guy was STILL near the endline.

How is there an offside call if Sane was never past the last defender?

It's not offside. The refs just suck.

Yeah but what throws me is that the announcers never even mention that Liverpool has a guy just kind of lollygagging at the end line, which should basically make an offside play impossible, right?

Didn't see the play but from what you described the player at the end line could have been ruled to have influenced the play (goalie taking him to account, defenders adjusting, etc...)... I could be interrupting what you are describing incorrectly though.

Roma dominated the first half. Should have at least put 1 more in the back of the net. Patrik Schick had a perfect cross and header opportunity and he didn't connect well enough. Should have been a goal. Roma is gonna go for blood in the second half. The players are sick of Barca getting the calls and its clear as day. They won by just making it to this round and getting the CL money, so they have nothing to lose.

I am watching City and listening to Roma in the background. It sounds like Dzeko has been enormous.

I guess the offside was based on his initial run, and not the second ball that was played after the goalie punched it.

Either way, it looks fine to my amateur eyes (also disregard the language. Ripped the first tweet I could find lol):

Sorta feel bad for City. Tough breaks and all that. Thin margins between teams at this level, not fun to see officiating impact that.

Glad Pool goes through. Should be fun!
