SMDH...

So, punish a club because of a cat, and fans throwing stuff... Stuff that they have almost no control over in real time, but sure teams can TOTALLY pay (literally throw money at problems with 0 checkbook balance) for promotion, superstars, and league titles even with FFP. Love it.

totally missing the point... who dafaq doesn't like seeing cats!?!?!?!

Wow Arsenal ...

Milan's right back is using Fabio Borini at right back (?!?) so that speaks of all kinds of disorganization. Disappointing showing from them in this tie.

The very same! He was a mediocre striker in the Premier League. Not sure how he became a right back. On the other hand, I suppose it's not uncommon for mediocre attacking players to become defensive players.

Liverpool draw Man City in the Champs League! Wow.

Not a draw I really wanted, as a Liverpool fan. Would have preferred to play someone we haven't played yet this year. But if it's anything like that awesome 4-3 game at Anfield, it should be a hell of a tie for neutrals and fans alike.

That Real/Juve tie should be fascinating. I would love to see Juve steal a win just like they did from Spurs.

In a draw that could be something like Liverpool, City, United, Bayern, Juve, Real, Barca and Roma, I'd bet most teams would be somewhat relieved to draw them*

*but not City, keep us as fucking far from Anfield as possible please

Well this is what I said a month ago, and I'm still not too stoked to go to Anfield. But at the same time, we won the PL tie on an 8-4 aggregate (with 3 away goals to zero) and are 21 points up in the league. Other than Sevilla and Roma, there's no one else I'd rather play. Bring. It. On.

As a Liverpool fan, from the standpoint of advancing in the competition, I feel the same way, I guess. At least Man City is a team we know we can beat on our day. I really didn't want Juve because LFC struggle against teams who are good at defending deep. Bayern have the best center-back pairing in the world right now, imo. Messi has shown that he can single-handedly win ties for Barca. Similarly, Real, although they haven't been playing great lately, have so much star power that you have to respect them. After Roma and Sevilla, who--no disrespect to them--are probably the weakest teams in the draw, I think LFC's best chance of advancing is against Man City.

On the other hand, what's cool about Champions League is when teams in different countries play each other, so you can see how different leagues stack up. When two teams in the same country draw each other, you can help but feel a little cheated.

There are enough fans of clubs that use this song here that I thought it was worth sharing:

I'm 100% okay with playing City. They are awesome but definitely a club Pool can play their style with.

Imma go ahead and say it even though it is not a popular opinion.

This is not a great signing for MLS from an athletic performance point view. It is good. It is a great signing from a marketing perspective.

It is good for the Galaxy because they got him on a non-DP contract so they are loaded now. But I think he is old and injured. I will be surprised if he hits double digit goal figures. I don't think he's even a top 10 player in the league.

I agree. This smells like what has happened too often in MLS... old, once great superstars come here as shells of themselves, which draws interest, but doesn’t actually more the needle in the right direction in terms of building the overall quality.

MLS is trash. The sooner people accept that.... the better

Wrong. Don’t even need an explanation. You’re just wrong. Even MLS haters are starting to see that the league is developing quality and becoming more competitive globally every year. And as an American who clearly likes soccer if you’re in this thread, why would you not want it to succeed?

The model has really shifted. Recently the model has moved from that to young South Americans or Euros in top 5 leagues that can’t really make it off the bench. I’m hoping Zlatan is the last signing of someone over 35 MLS really does. Because of geography, MLS will never be on the same level as the Bundesliga, La Liga, or the EPL. But if it can continue to grow and become a league as competitive as Ligue 1 or even a feeder league like the Eredivisie or Portuguese Liga, it’ll be very good for American soccer.

I don't really care if it succeeds. I don't watch it much. I prefer the Premier League and Bundesliga.

It's a top ten in the world league now dude... which considering where it was 15 years ago is astonishing...

As much as I hate the old DPs, they really are what started to draw attention to the league. I’m glad MLS is going away from this model, but it really paved the way for the DPs we have now like Almiron, Giovinco, Martinez, and what not. I mean, Zlatan isn’t even here on a DP contract. That in and of itself speaks to the leagues growth both competitively and financially

I will also add that MLS is really a deep and balanced league top to bottom. Its really impressive actually.
