I'll take Honduras in 2nd. If they get their stuff together they are clearly the #2, and can definitely give the US a run for their money. But they've disappointed lately.

I'm still shaking my head at the Chris Wondo addition, and the lack of Matt Besler (ever since he was critical of Klinnsman, who deserved it IMHO).

Edit: My head is STILL shaking at Chris WOndo's inclusion. Phenomenal club player, NOT international quality.

To be fair to Wondo, he has killed it against CONCACAF competition. Last Gold Cup, I think he scored every game. I am in agreement with you, though. I can't forgive him for the miss against Belgium and do think this will be his last inclusion in the roster for good.

Supposedly Besler is coming after the group stage to replace Alvarado. SKC literally has no depth at CB and they should be able to manage the group without him. I can't remember if it is 3 or 6, but after the group stage, expect at least a couple roster changes.

As far as Honduras goes, you are probably correct, but I hate that team almost as much as El Tri.

Not currently... he's had a great run though... just like Samaras, hard to root against him too..

I honestly don't know what's going to happen with Izzi though, could be back.

Looking at Honduras's roster, I am almost shocked. No Izzaguire, no Bernardez, no Espinoza, no Bengston. This is actually one of the weakest Honduras teams I remember. Outside of a couple players like Maynor Figeroa and Andy Najar, its is incredible the lack of experience they have. Their whole roster combined has 27 goals internationally. In comparison, Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey have 67 combined.

Not entirely sure about him with Celtic, but I guess that would make sense why he was left off the Gold Cup roster if he was trying to sort out his club situation.

He's not quite the star Samaras was so it's not all over the intersweb like the GS situation was but I know he's not officially with the team right now so it 'feels' like the Samaras thing where it's up in the air where he's going to be right now...

this is good for the Gold Cup, I have no reason to endure Honduras and they clearly aren't as good without him so......

??? Wow. Are they just punting this tournament and getting some kids experience? Wow.

I know you hate Hondurans...when I was far younger and playing semi-pro ball in L.A., probably the best team I have ever played against to this day was a team of Hondurans. Ho.ly.Shit. I think the score was like 12-1 or something, no lie. I was a striker and I hardly touched the ball. I ended up playing sweeper cause I was tired of seeing us getting smoked - they proceeded to drop a cool 3 or more on me too lol. Those guys were phenomenal. Pretty much my only Hondurans story.

Haha I don't hate their national team per se, but the team that they put through WC qualifying and in the World Cup played the dirtiest, cheapest style of soccer I have in a competitive international level. It was embarrassing.

To go off your story, on my team in high school we had a striker from Honduras for one season. Individually, he was one of the greatest talents I have seen at the high school level. As a team player though, the dude had no idea. He almost had no tactical awareness. I believe your story though. Those Central American players have some unreal skill....

We probably scored when I went back to defense lol. Or I might have been imagining the goal to make the memory more palatable. It was the worst drubbing I've ever been a part of lol.

12-1 is bad lol. When I played in high school, we beat a team 8-0, and then the following game we lost 7-1. Went from having such a high to such a low.

I agree. It was embarrassing. On the strength of the other CONCACAF representatives, you could have argued that we deserve another spot in the WC finals. Honduras totally torpedoed that argument.

It is looking like MLS is adding a 4th DP spot and Giovanni Dos Santos will be signing with LA Galaxy. I'm sure that makes ACamp happy ;)

I remember our FC Tornados team won a game like 10-1. That was a good ol' curb stomping.

Fvk dat.... I'll be pissed...

There's essentially three scenarios... and I am being serious about them, not because Omar is your boy.

1. They unload Omar to make room for Gio. They are not letting go of Keane or Gerrard.
2. They use a ton of allocation money (of which IDK if they have) and buy Omar down so he is no longer a DP.
3. MLS adds a fourth DP slot.

It is looking like scenario 3, but you never know with MLS.

I'm sure they'll make extra room with another DP as well... although in this week of patriotism and loyalty it is important I remember why I am a Galaxy fan and stay loyal to that...... that reason is simple...

Omar.

Where Omar goes, my heart follows...

lol... I kid a lot but he is one of my fav athletes in any sport, he's like my soccer Derek Jeter... I'll root for him regardless, and I am a Galaxy fan, but it'll be hard to damn near impossible to root for Dos Santos... I'll have to let this unicorn bs digest for a bit I suppose.

Look at the bright side; Chicharito is coming to MLS also. I would rather root for Gio than Chicharito...

I can't stand Chicharito for a variety of reasons and think he is very overrated. I at least can say Gio is extremely talented and would be fun to watch on my team.

If you meant Chicharito to MLS, Taylor Twellman said over the weekend MLS is trying to bring both them to the league. Considering Gio appears to be happening, I am guessing Chicharito is also, with rumors of Orlando City getting him.

It annoyed me so much when everyone called Chicharito a "hero" after that Champs League goal. Ronaldo did all the work. Chicharito just had to put his foot through the ball.

I will say this... for my entire soccer fandom/life I've been a fan of different Euro league and ECL more than anything else... over the past four years I've slowly shifted from less of a Scottish/German/Italian/Champions League fan to more of a domestic guy...

I think this season the transformation is finally total and complete... I'm a Major League Soccer guy first and my interest in most of Europe is pretty much completely gone. I'll watch Bundesliga on Fox and Celtic on Soccer Plus... but yeah, let's put it this way: If you give me the choice moving forward of a random ECL game between to big teams and a random MLS game between two random teams... I'll take the MLS game.

'merica.

Not me. I like Chicharito. Plays hard, makes runs off the ball, always working on the pitch, and he even tried really hard to learn the English language while in England, to the point that he's very good at it now. And while he's not the prettiest player in the world and not the normal striker you would find at clubs like Man U and RM, he's still found ways to score at the highest possible levels of soccer, even at critical points. He went through a horrible slump, but still rang the bell at RM this year when Benzema went down, and scored a couple massive goals for them. He might be overrated, but that's not his fault.

Gio, I used to like more, but for whatever reason, I don't like him anymore. Maybe it's my own bias, or maybe it's bc his game hasn't ascended to heights I thought it could, maybe it was his long hair...I can't put my finger on it. But my first reaction when he I read about him coming to the Galaxy was the exact opposite about when I heard Steven G was coming. I'm sure I'll grow to like him though...

I'll sum it up this way...

I respect Chicharito. He's a lil pea.
I don't respect Gio. He's a lil bitch.
