I think it is being finalized at the moment. Seems like he has undergone medicals so the signing should be official pretty soon. I've been reading about a potential Pastore, Ba and Abel Hernandez signings but nothing concrete at the moment. Ozil along with a couple more signings would make Arsenal definite title contenders. Furthermore, this is becoming a wonderful week for Gooner fans everywhere, especially after beating Spurs.

Anyone else seeing a slight resemblence to Formula Un driver Jean Girard?

Great move for Arsenal.... Though I wish it wouldn't take until transfer day and make everyone panic.

Incredible, I still can't believe it happened. Top 15 or so world player headed to Emirates.

Now my question is where does Arsene slide him in? Who's the od man out in the midfield? And where then do Arteta and Podolski fit in when they're healthy? Or Ox? Team definitely has a glut of midfielders now.

Since Ozil can play both RW and LW along with the CM/AM position, there are lots of formations I can see Arsenal playing. For instance, I can see Ozil taking Walcott's RW position and Walcott sliding into the striker role (the position he desperately wants and to give Giroud a rest). Or Ozil can play one of the three midfield positions along with Ramsey/Arteta and Wilshere/Rosicky with Santi sliding into the LW role (which he has been playing since the second half of last season. Whatever position he plays I'm expecting Arsenal to play some beautiful passing and attacking possession football for the coming year.

Cazorla--Ozil--Walcott
---Ramsey--Arteta----

During the rare times everyone is healthy. Podolski and Ox off the bench. Wilshere filling in for Ramsey a lot.

I think Ozil will play the advanced playmaker role as you suggest. But I don't think it will be Wilshere filling in for Ramsey. I think Ramsey is being developed to eventually takeover Arteta's role. I see Wilshere starting alongside Ramsey. When Arteta comes back, I see him mixing a lot with Ramsey, Rosicky subbing in for Ozil and Ox and Podolski coming off the bench for each wing position. We will see some combination of Arteta/Ramsey/Wilshere/Flamini/Frimpong for the two central midfielder positions behind Ozil.

In any case, exciting times ahead for Arsenal!

Ozil IMO is a top 10 player in the world and I was disappointed City didn't pursue landing him more. Arsenal has just as good a chance as City and Chelsea at winning the EPL right now.

I read that Arsenal and Real kept this deal very quiet, which was going on for a few weeks. Ozit showed up a few weeks ago for a partial medical and to take photos. Real could not speak about it until the Bale thing was done and Arsenal were scared Tottenham would hijack the deal to prevent Arsenal from getting Ozit. Definitely a coup. Great signing.

Anyway. 9 points on 3 shutouts and a massive signing window (love Sahko). Damn it feels good to be on top of the table right now and to beat Man U too.

Also saw Kaka left on a free back to AC Milan. I don't follow Real but wa he playing that poorly? He was one of my favorites.

His form was off and just wasn't playing much from what I read. Pretty sure last year he only appeared in about half the league games and his production was only going to go down this year.

Arsenal got a steal with Ozil. How was Bale worth so much more? There is only one year different between the two.

Come to think of it, Gooner fans should be thanking the Tottenham brass for making the Ozil transfer possible. I doubt Arsenal could have ended up with Ozil without the Bale sale to Real Madrid.

It probably wouldn't have happened if Tottenham didn't screw with RM and tried to get every last penny out of them by prolonging it. I think RM just said, "You know what? You mess with us, and we'll start doing business with your archrival."

Probably the best roster talent wise I have ever seen the USMNT put out. Jozy was also cleared today so he should definitely play. I really think Kevin Bacon is going to get a start in one of these two games. He looked great in his short time against Bosnia and he is doing nothing but scoring goals in the Netherlands with AZ.

REALLY want to see Roma move Bradley up north somewhere... not that he isn't doing well... but I'd love to see him play more often... I heard his name thrown around a bit.

If by up north you mean AC Milan, that is about as far as Bradley will go for a while IMO. Bradley's dream growing up was to play in Serie A, particularly AC Milan. I think his move to Serie A is part of why he has become our best player.

I don’t doubt the move has been positive... I just wish i could see him on TV more often... he's been my fav player on the USMNT for years, going back to when many bashed him for being simply a daddy's pick... when I went to pick up my jersey this weekend, the only player they were sold out of was Bradley… I instantly thought, “Man has he come a long way in public perception”

anyway, I also REALLY want to see Mexico and England lose a qualifying game or two real soon...

It's gonna happen, my friend.

Mexico is going to get 1 point in the next two. England is going to lose to Ukraine. As much as I think Wayne Rooney is an overrated fatty, he is their best threat at forward. With him injured, that only makes that game in the Ukraine tougher. And I will love every single second of their failure.

If England and Mexico fail to qualify, and ND wins ten plus games this year (hopefully including this week) I really can't complain about sports for the year...

I'll be good.

Since this is "everything" soccer: coming out of retirement and playing my first soccer game since 8th grade tonight. No idea how its going to go, except that I'm going to pull something.
