Tough to tell from that angle, but I think that the defender on the far side kept him on-side. Really poor defense on what could have been a devastating goal.

Regardless, glad to get the 3 points in the road.

It looks a lot closer from a different angle. I looked up some of the highlights of the game and they showed one more from the side. I think it was still offsides, but by half a body. Not by a half a yard like it is shown in that angle. There was a defender further away from the ball that was the closest to the offsides line. It also looks as if he kind of pushes off the defender, which happens in about every set piece.

I think England's World Cup hopes took a hit today with Ukraine beating Montenegro. It looks good on the surface, but Ukraine still has 2 games left with San Marino, and one being their only road match. Ukraine is in prime position to win the group as long as they don't screw up against Poland. Montenegro still is in a good place. England-Montenegro at Wembley in October could be winner takes all.

England is one point ahead of Ukraine at the moment.

Ukraines remaining games:
San Marino
England
Poland
@ San Marino

San Marino are two wins.

Englands remaining games:
Moldova
@Ukraine
Montenegro
Poland

I really think Moldova and Montenegro are two wins.

Both teams play Poland at home, I think both teams will win, at worst, tie.
Then it's head to head, and I still like England's chances even in Ukraine. We will have to wait and see though I guess.

That was offsides. We almost got CONCACAF'd.

October 11 is going to be a classic day for qualifiers. You've got:
-Jamaica at USA, which might be the day we clinch.
-Mexico hosts Panama which could easily be the difference between 3rd and 4th for both teams.
-Uruguay goes to Ecuador which might be between 2 bubble teams
-Croatia vs. Belgium, which will basically decide who wins the group if everything holds up
-Italy goes to Denmark for what will probably be Denmark's last stand on catching Bulgaria and the Czechs.
-England hosts Montenegro for what will have to decide a WC spot or at least a spot in the next round

So many WC spots on the line.

Costa Rica and the bastards to the south at 730 with USA and Panama at 10. Ideal scenario here would be us and Costa Rica winning, and then USMNT beats Honduras and Panama beats Costa Rica. Would drop Mexico to 4th :D

Wow! Costa Rica draws with El Tri at the Azteca. Pretty surprising result to say the least.

Bradley baby... That was pure Bradley, setting that all up, and great overall attacking play from there

They have me a bit worried in the back. Our defenders look a bit slow... but they are covering for each other well. We have looked strong going forward, but a bit slow passing it around it the back when it was tied up. We have had some good long balls that were able to be corralled by Johnson and co. on the wings. I love Bradley, he is great in the middle for us. Has creativity going forward and is solid in possession in the back (he even covers well too).

That goal was a beauty. Great first touch and finish by Johnson! 2 - 0 USA!

That game really easily could have been 4-0 now that I think about it... Beasley could have easily scored as well as Dempsey... What a poor attempt by Dempsey and he still almost snuck it in.

That second half was as crisp of a half I've seen the USMNT play in some time.

I think Dempsey had two chance right? The "Baltimore Chop" shot that hit the cross bar, but also a nice ball through by Altidore where he kind of shot-passed it wide. Both were great chances to score; I'm a bit surprised he didn't hit either one. But you're right, it could have easily been 3-0, 4-0, or maybe 5-0 (Altidore's Penalty?). Of course scoring changes the complexion of the game so I doubt we would have actually scored 5 (or 4 really), but it should have been 3-0.

Agreed. Regardless, it was the type of domination I like to see, haha.

Did anyone see that England's Under 21 team are at the bottom of their group? Norway put a hurting on them.

Mexico and England could play each other in their own little "We didn't make the World Cup" match and I would see it as proof of a just and loving God.

The proof would be if an asteroid hit the stadium they were playing said match in...

We need Mexico like the Scottish need England. You can't have the good without the bad.

The Scottish American in me says you sure as hell can...

;)

Anyway, I remember during the Gold Cup a lot of posters here (not clling anyone out, don't even know if they are stil with the site honestly, just remembering the tone) really hated on Bradley... some even said he was only with the team due to Daddy being coach... ugh.

Yesterday showed pretty clearly why i have called him one of our best players for a few years now... In fariness that was one of his best games with te MNT but that's what he can provide... Bradley was my man of the match yesterday without any question.

I love Bradley. His time in Italy has really paid off. He is our maestro, and I don''t want to say this but he is very Pirlo-esque, though Pirlo does not get forward as much as Bradley does. His run into the box was what let Jozy score (IMO).

Geoff Cameron is also a very big surprise to me. He has been versatile and solid.
