The dude doing the color with Gus is crazy... Openly rooting for Chelsea, in fact he said the words 'I want Chelsea to win' and he's very antagonistic in general...

That dude is Ian Wright. Former Arsenal legend (also played at Celtic for a season). After the match GJ said it was Wright's first match as a commentator.

After the match, he called out Chelsea's travelling support for some alleged sick chants about Benitez. Didn't hear them myself, but if he's right, I'd have to agree with him. The Hazard substitution changed the match for Chelsea.

If the Aggregate stays at 2-2, who advances? Or does it go to shootout? I forget how it works.

Taken from Wikipedia--

"In the event that aggregate scores finish level, the away goals rule is applied, i.e., the team that scored more goals away from home over the two legs progresses. If away goals are also equal, then thirty minutes of extra time are played, divided into two fifteen-minutes halves. The away goals rule is again applied after extra time, i.e., if there are goals scored during extra time and the aggregate score is still level, the visiting team qualifies by virtue of more away goals scored. If no goals are scored during extra time, the tie is decided by penalty shootout."

1 - 0 win last night at home vs Costa Rica in a blizzard. If we're going to blast JK when US loses, we have to give him props when they win. Starting Beasley at Left Back worked out well. Altidore looked good up top too.

I dont think I have ever watched a soccer game played on 2 inches of snow. I am sure it would be fun to play in but it was pretty bad to watch.

I agree. The second half was completely devoid of skill. I only kept watching because I expected something completely bizarre to happen. I am not sure the players were having fun either. They just knew how important those three points were.

Soccer in the snow is awesome... that said, the one time I played in the snow, it was just a half inch. not a blizzard. Wish I could have watched.

Huge win yesterday for the US. Beasley, as mentioned, was very good at Left Back! At least a draw at Azteca will put us in great position going forward.

For real...that game sucked. Nobody gets better (which we desperately need) playing in conditions like that. It was probably great for team chemistry and great to see the Americans return to our gritty, get-after-it selves, but as far as getting better technically and tactically and getting to know each other on the pitch, it was a complete waste of time.

And watching it blew too, because it wasn't soccer. I only watched because I love US soccer and because of the magnitude of the game. But it was a horrible game to watch.

At least we won though. The night sucked royally for me...the soccer game sucked, ND got blown out, UCLA got blown out, and the Lakers lost an 18 pt lead at home to the friggin' Wizards. Ugh...

Rumor is Matt Besler (ND class of 2008) will start in the defense tonight. Good for him, have never seen him play personally...But great that a ND grad is doing well, and has this great of an opportunity. GO YANKS!!

Not expecting a win, but would like to see some fight and hopefully a draw.

DUDE, that is awesome. I knew he made his debut in January I think, but never thought he would start? Crazy.

I think USA's makeshift defense is playing very well in the second half so far... Things change but maybe one or two of these guys should be out there. I mean Beasley never even played defense for us til last game. Is this Besler's first start? I don't even know Omar Gonzales. Geoff Cameron has played very well for us and I fully expect him to start in the 2014 World Cup. We are really missing the likes of Fabian Johnson, Jermaine Jones, Danny Williams, and Landon Donovan.
