We have seen stuff like this with multiple world cups as well,… it’s almost like some nations simply don’t have the infrastructure or resources to put these things on properly,…………….

The World Cup is run by FIFA. These Champions League and Europa League Finals under UEFA have been utterly disastrous.

Anything UEFA has touched in recent years has been a complete shit show. No one has lost their job either. It's like they have complete contempt for the people who are spending their money to attend these games, Champions League, which happen to be the most watched sporting event year in and year out.

Manchester City fans couldn't get water or access to bathrooms on Saturday. This is basic human being stuff. Put water in your body and pass the water out of your body into a toilet. This shouldn't be a major ask for anyone, let alone a football fan paying hundreds of Euros to experience the match.

It's like anything else. People need to organize and stop attending otherwise there is no incentive to treat people like human beings.

Pretty quiet. Definitely looked like a guy who hadn't practiced much with the team and wasn't necessarily read for the physicality of the match, although he did have a few nice touches.

Nothing bad, nothing great, but nothing that discourages my thinking that he'll be a true #9 for this team.

I am really not pleased with the GGG situation. I wasn't on board when they first hired him and definitely didn't want them to bring him back. However, the endorsements he has gotten from Pulisc and McKennie do mean something. They are the leaders of this squad and most likely know the temperature of the roster when it comes to GGG.

That's a take I could understand if this week was the first time they made positive statements towards him. The thing is though they have been making positive statements about GGG for a few months now. Even when he was in the midst of the investigation they were both stating their support for him.

Put aside Berhalter's win percentage and the Qatar World Cup because the bar there was low to begin with. 2026 is going to be their best shot ever and likely last in a long time when it comes to timing, roster, location of the World Cup.

I often ask myself in situations like these "Did nobody else actually WANT the job?" because in the end that plays a part of it that we don't see on our end of fandom.

So I'm teaching summer school. One of the students who has taken other classes of mine has a family that runs a really good local Mexican spot. We get on pretty well but he's massively Mexico and hates Puli with a passion. My wife talked me down from wearing the Where's Waldo, a USMNT scarf, and bringing a flag to work today....
