This season just needs to end ffs 🤦♂️
This has no relevance to the situation at all.Claudio Reyna’s agent, Dan Segal, emailed a statement to The Athletic: “US Soccer is a small community. Anyone who knows the Reynas knows that they are kind, generous people who have devoted countless hours and energy to promoting US soccer and to the welfare of so many fellow players, parents, coaches, administrators and others. They are also a tremendously loving family that was profoundly impacted by the terrible loss of their eldest son Jack to cancer in 2012 at the age of 13.
Claudio and Danielle acknowledge that they have said and done things in the heat of the moment that they regret, particularly the statement that triggered the US Soccer investigation. Gio acknowledges that, like countless players before, he showed too much disappointment when not selected to play at the World Cup.
That is only part of the story here, but the only side of the story that the investigators chose to tell. It is disheartening and grossly unfair to see the family turned into one-dimensional caricatures to progress a narrative that benefits others. Hopefully, as a US soccer community we are better than that.”
Agreed. An out of left field attempt to justify, the fact that they seem like helicopter parents. Doubles as to soften the narrative towards the Renya's as well, but that isn't gonna work the damage is done. This has no relevance to the situation at all.
Berhalter comes out of this looking really good. His story adds up. He owned the situation as a college freshman, he owns it now and the investigation had him coming away as cooperative and warm in the eyes of the individuals who engaged with him.Agreed. The Renyas and Berhalthers are both pieces of work honestly. Easy to see why they were so friendly for so long. US Soccer would do well to put both of these folks behind them.
All this is true. It is great that he owns it and he and his wife were able to get past it, but he did it in the first place. Mistake happen and while I don't think that alone should have him removed from his post, that does lead me to the other reason. He is shit as a coach and player manager IMO.Berhalter comes out of this looking really good. His story adds up. Claudio Reyna comes off like an ass and Danielle Reyna changed her story the second time she told it.
From an optics standpoint, there is no both sides here. Berhalter, while his next move is uncertain, comes away looking far better in the report than the Reynas do regardless of everything else.
If we're holding people accountable for what they did as college freshman at age 18....three decades later, we're going to have a lot of people dropping off of the map in society. Not condoning it; however, there is context and those details came out in the investigation. All this is true. I also don't for one second believe he thought that comment about Gio was/would be off the record. He knew (and was already) fielding questions around Gio's playing time, because the team was largely ineffective going forward. Also, something pretty common under his watch.
If the personal issues aren't enough, his performance as the manager should be IMO.
They're going to win Serie A and have made the Champions League Round of 16. He's addressing what is surely his eventual departure that will occur in a matter of months.
Bizarre how they do things over there.
He's discussing his future plans, which likely involve him leaving, as they're on the cusp of winning a league and have been playing as well as anyone in Champions League. What part is bizarre? The transfer market?
I think Pulisic is a stand up player and person. Captain material. Just needs to GTFO of Chelsea FC this summer.Pulisic, who was a key player as the US reached the last 16 in Qatar, believes Berhalter is unlucky not to still be in post.
“I’m not here to appoint the next manager — it’s not my job — and whoever it is I’m going to play and give it 100 per cent,” Pulisic told ESPN.
“Everything that happened with Gregg, first of all, has been handled in an extremely childish manner. I think we’ve seen what’s been going on. I think it’s childish, it’s youth soccer, people complaining about playing time.
“I don’t want to go too far into that, but I think Gregg has been extremely unfortunate to get into the position he is in now.”
Eh,… if you’re gonna do it, do it all the way.And holy shit did Fulham implode. Three red cards in about a minute. Remarkable lack of poise.
Got to be trying to get fired yea?
