I hope not. Tony was a winner, great option reader and runner but as a passer he forced Holtz to keep a cardiologist on 24 hour standby.

BTW, shouldn't your user name now be "GreatGolson" ? I get the Mt. Everett but GreatGolson is alliteration and dare I say it, you have tradition to maintain.

OH YEAH? I'd like to see Golson make All-American with only two touchdown passes. He'll never touch Tony Rice.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. If Golson steps in and takes care of business, the nation will have no choice but to get off of BKs jock. Golson is the most talented, best suited QB for BKs spread. BK has never had someone of this talent to coach, develop, and eventually start (with the exception of Kiel, but hopefully he sticks around for "his turn") to this point. He made Mauk, Grutza, Pike and Collaros tremendous QBs at UC, and those guys had no business being even half as succesful as he made them.

He worked a miracle by making Rees adequate (above average?) as a freshman/sophmore. Golson being unleashed will be a different animal though. If he stays healthy, and continues to progress, he WILL be the most LETHAL starting QB in college football.

My goodness, I've been waiting for Golson since I first saw his highlight film. I don't even care if I'm completely wrong on the above, I'm just excited.

HC Brian Kelly: "We would not name (Golson) the starter unless we felt this was the next step toward moving our program forward."

Whew! That's good to hear, I'm glad he won it out. It's also good to hear Davonte Neal's going to be the punt returner.

Golson: I wouldn't have reached my potential without Andrew, Gunner and Tommy helping me out.

Golson: "It definitely means a lot, but with this comes a lot of responsibility. I'm not going to rejoice in it."

I also understand it’s time to go to work right now.

Golson: Wanted a visor for his helmet & Kelly told him he wouldn't get it until he was the starter...then he got the visor.

Golson: Says he made improvements in the film room as biggest strides toward being named starter.

Kelly told him yesterday.

lol seems like a funny/odd thing to earn.. maybe it's just me.. congrats Everett, can't wait to see you personally cost multiple defensive coordinators their job (kidding, kind of)

Alot of players REALLY value how cool the visors look as part of their helmet. I only played in high school, but our coach would only allow starting seniors to rock the visor. Kind of a payed-your-dues-and-did-the-work thing.

For better or worse, today seems like the day where the torch has officially been passed. I'm absolutely giddy about it. We'll sink or swim with this new wave of guys. And yeah, there could be more of them, but as we watched these last two classes come together we were so excited about the possibilities "some day." This is finally the day. With what I think of this group of guys, and knowing what we have coming to reinforce them, I am as excited about ND football as I have been in about seven years. Of course, maybe Golson isn't better than Rees, and maybe our secondary gets torched, and maybe Neal isn't appreciably better than Goodman. All of that is possible, but we have a good chance of being a much improved football team now. We are plugging in real, serious BCS caliber athletes all over the field now.
