To echo @KeithArnoldNBC tweet, yes, plan was for #NotreDame to announce QB tonight, and that QB expected to be Everett Golson.
Hamilton now tweeted there's a chance ND now delays the announcement "with the cat out of the bag", but the plan was to announce today.
I see no reason not to announce with or without the public knowing, but what do I know? I just don't see any benefit in delaying, or the reasoning behind doing so because there are rumors of it floating.
Delaying a decision/announcement throughout camp is perfectly understandable for reasons mentioned in other threads. However, there cannot seriously be any advantage in short-changing the actual starter of significant reps this close to the season. At this point, I don't care how the backup feels. Name the starter, give the majority of the reps to said starter, stop this 50/50 BS, and lets get it goin.
My point is that if the plan was to announce today, thus electing to prematurly end the speculation and the added benefits to not coming public, why change your minds simply because it got out a few hours early? If Golson was chosen, and the decision was made to make it public today, what is the difference?
I understand and agree.
I'm just making a general point that this close to kickoff, do the benefits of Hendrix's extra reps outweight the cons of Golson getting less? I think everyone knows what the announcement will be. So lets just get it over with and continue w/ that starter getting the majority of reps leading up to the season.

I've come tithe conclusion the whole offseason deal was an inside job. Either a player or a ND football fan made the call that night that got Rees arrested. All with the intent of allowing our program to move forward in a positive direction this year and alleviate the stress incurred by Rees starting. Thank you to the individual who made this all happen.
I hope Kelly never announces it and plays each QB 25% of the time this season so that no one has to get their feelings hurt.
I just read a tweet that said Everett was named the starter. Is this confirmed? Sorry, I am at the doctor and I can't do any research, just briefly checking in. Someone PM me with any info please. I will check it, but I am getting scanned and probed all day today, so I won't get to go into any depth looking. Doc's here, frowning because I'm on phone. Bye all and thanks in advance
