Most shocking thing I have ever readMet Stephen A is RL. Complete asshole. That’s all.
Corso hasn't figured it out he hasn't been paid in years...I can’t believe they kept Desmond Howard and Corso

ESPN is owned by Disney. Disney has been in BIG economic trouble. They have attempted to encourage investors to stick with them by carving blood out of their staff all over the company. Big payroll TV personalities is one way to do it. OK, I sort of understand, but for me they dumped the best NBA analyst/color commentator they had (J Van Gundy.) Reading the internet sites, nearly everyone agrees. That show might utterly stink without him. Also dumping Jalen Rose, who actually had coherent and occasional creative thoughts, was a blunder --- and who do they leave as a Basketball expert commentator? S A Smith. Screaming with no original commentary is apparently worth funding.
The McShay thing was probably some nickle pusher saying why do we need to pay both McShay and Kiper to do the same job? And there was a third guy beginning to show up as a mock draft guy. As to Pollack, he was my favorite among that ship of clowns, since Herbstreit continued to deteriorate over the decade after being pretty good. The new loudmouthed guy was not only kept but given a raise. Another example that screaming is worth paying for. Who the Hell their audience target is leaves me aghast. Pollack was at least willing to buck the popular crowd voice when he saw things otherwise. --- but all of this was bottomline driven, get your payroll down.
Like others have said, GameDay has really lost its luster for me the last few years. I actually enjoyed the FOX morning pregame show whenever I tuned in last year. Unsure if it’s just the different hosts or style or the fact it leads into the FOX noon game or if it’s just because it’s a newer show, but it was definitely more enjoyable to me. Quinn on doesn’t hurt also.
Couldn't disagree more. More efficient given the shortened hour, and far better Xs and Os and likeable crew due to their knowledge. The fox show is awful, probably worse than gameday.

Gameday is dead, as over the hill as Corso.
He is to me. If I'm watching football I want to know football, I'm not giving a morality pat down through the tv, and he's as good as it gets for analysis IMO. The show overall has flown by Gameday, Urban is just a small piece.Urban Meyer likable?

He deserves to be Fired this stupid comment. It has nothing to do with color. It’s all about Disney making as much money as they can.
Privilege is college football starting at 10am Mountain time but we peasants in the Midwest have to wait until 12p.The privilege,…..
You have the privilege of not being fired by ESPN.Stephen A Smith is a no talent raging racist asshole. I hope he’s next on the list.

Sadly there is a reason he’s still there. Same reason Days of Lives has been one of the longest running shows ever. Drama. People love dramas and court TV. ESPN thrives on their drama man.Stephen A's schtick has run its course. It's old, tired, annoying, and grossly overused. I liked the guy years ago, but I'm just tired of hearing him yell about everything. Time for ESPN to send him back down to the Minors and let him find a niche spot on SXM or some NYC radio station.
I experienced the same from a Fortune 500 company during the '09 recession. In the letter we received, the only group they did not justify in letting go was white male between 18-55 so I figured they were trying to avoid discrimination suits. So can layoffs be based on talent/production at ESPN or is it random to avoid inevitable discrimination lawsuits. I was laid off from a huge company years ago and they sent a roster detailing the sex, race & age of every person who was also laid off. It was a clear sign that they wanted to make it clear that it wasn’t personal & any discriminatory lawsuits would be a waste of time.
Same. But my experience has been a little different in that I married into a family that he manages some Berkshire Hathaway businesses. I know that with every round of layoffs, there is a big point of emphasis on not being sued and things not coming back to bite them. sure it’s a Numbers game, but part of those numbers is not getting into a lawsuit.I experienced the same from a Fortune 500 company during the '09 recession.
