UM and OSU both have easy schedules. Although credit to OSU for playing Oklahoma this year (I think).

Tennessee??

They haven't won a big game in a decade and all of a sudden they're a 14-1 favorite to win a NC? Dafuq

Look at Michigan's schedule (and head coach). Nobody in their right mind would take us over them as odds.

It's a cupcake schedule with MSU and OSU. That's really it.

2016 Michigan Wolverines Football Schedule | UM

Did you watch football last year? How are Iowa, Wisconson, PSU, Nebraska and IU all cupcakes? Not to mention, they also have to play a championship game.

I hate scUM as much as the next guy, but your opinion of their schedule is completely incorrect.

Right and they haven't won in East Landfill or Columbus in a dogs age. So I'll pencil in 2 Ls right off the hop.

I think they turn the tide on MSU this year, as long as they get decent QB play. And I hate that, because I respect Dantonio (dating back to the work he did getting UC ready for BK) and I can root for Sparty over a lot of teams.

OSU loses a bunch of starters (much like ND), but they will reload from the #2's on the depth chart that have experience (much like ND), so I think they'll run scUM again. It will take another 2 or 3 years for Harbaugh to truly even things up with Urban I think.

But as Wooly said, the B1G was much stronger last year than most people realize. Bowl season didn't help that perception much, but it's more of a grind to get through B1G play than it used to be.

Oregon: 33-1 (22-1)
TCU: 33-1 (33-1)
UCLA: 33-1 (40-1)
USC: 33-1 (33-1)

WAY too high:
OSU - I would put them at 20-1, they lose 16 out of 22 starters. Still got Urbie though

Too High:
Ole Miss - Lose Laquon Treadwell and Nkemdiche, that's from a team that went 9-3 and was extremely fortunate to beat Bama. They have zero shot this year. Not to mention looming sanctions.

Too low:
Florida State - This team is loaded everywhere. If they can squeeze by Clemson (big if), watch out.
USC - see above
Oregon - Helfrich is no joke. There is no reason for them to be at the same odds as Auburn.

Otherwise I think it's a good list. Tennessee bring a lot back and was rolling Oklahoma for a half last year. I would be shocked if they don't go at least 9-3.

Michigan ahead of us? Lolololol

Why not? Because they lost to OSU by a few more points than we did?

In Harbaugh's first year they went 9-3, including a complete fluke, shut out 3 Big Ten teams in a row, and absolutely blew out Florida in their bowl game.

BTW they will roll Sparty this year, Sparty loses everyone

It definitely favors schedule. Look at that article a week ago about the opponents that have the toughest conference schedules. 5 of those teams were listed as playing us. Gonna be tough to run the gauntlet, but that's what we have to do if we hope to have a shot at getting into the playoff. 11-1 is no guarantee.

I measure schedules of top teams by OOC opponents. Everyone has a few in conference battles. But Michigan's OOC schedule is a joke.

That's kind of a silly way to measure if you aren't considering anything else. For instance, under your philosophy, Bama had a soft schedule. I mean, outside of a Wisconsin matchup in week 1, they faced; Middle Tenn, Louisiana Monroe and Charleston Southern out of conference. Amirite?

That being said, their in conference schedule included Ole Miss, Georgia, Arkansas, A&M, Tennessee, LSU, Miss St, Auburn and Florida. That is not a soft schedule.

I think ND was a little more competitive than they were, not to mention ND was deep into the 3 deep for injuries.

A beaten up BYU team, Maryland (did they even have football last year?) and perennial fraud Northwestern? They should have lost to Minnesota AND Indiana, but that is where coaching got them victories. And as for Florida, everyone knew they would be exposed at some point.

Yeah but this yeah Michigan drew a road game at Iowa, easily the top team in the west. And Wisconsin , IMO the #2.

Plus, their games against Sparty and OSU are both on the road.

They pretty much have the hardest possible B1G schedule.

MSU, OSU, and the Big 10 Championship game. That's not much softer than our Michigan State, Stanford, and USC.

It is when you look at the other games (they have cupcakes that are guaranteed wins). MSU cancels out, so it's OSU and big 10 champ (which can't be OSU) vs. Stanford and USC. I'll take Stanford as an even against OSU, and the big 10 champ generously even against USC. USC will be more talented than whoever is in that big 10 champ game, though.

So when you look at the rest of the schedule, I'd rather play theirs.

Hawaii, UCF, Colorado Buffaloes, Rutgers, Illinois, sign me up. All guaranteed wins.

What's our guaranteed wins? Nevada, Syracuse, Army? I'll take theirs all day. Vegas agrees.

How was BYU "beaten up"? They went 9-4 with their other losses coming to UCLA, Mizzou, and Utah. And Michigan outgained them 448-105.

Northwestern went 10-3, beating Stanford, Minnesota, Nebraska, Penn State, and Wisconsin.
Michigan outgained them 380-168

Maryland sucked. Michigan outgained them 378-105

Florida won 10 games and the SEC East. Michigan outgained them 503-273

Iowa has no talent and just graduated their best class in 15 years. They'll suck again. They got the doors blown off them by Stanford, they were fools gold all year and their record won't hide from it 2 years in a row.

They aren't Bama but they won 12 games last year.

And return 15 starters, including a senior QB. And the game is at Iowa.

I think it's a bit much to dismiss that game offhand.

That B1G division was garbage last year though, and Iowa's out of conference slate was pretty bad too. Aside from Pitt, who they beat on a long FG at the end of the game, they played no one. Pitt isn't exactly a world beater. We could have won those same 12 games even with the injuries we sustained, and probably beat MSU again too...playoff would have been ugly though.

They were in slugfests the first 3 games and got murdered on injuries.

NW lost to every good team they played, except Stanford which was a noon start EST time. Shame on Stanford but it is what it is.

Again the bulk of Florida's schedule was hot garbage.
