Dez Bryant was reportedly asked by Miami Dolphin GM Jeff Ireland if his mom was a prostitue before the draft. Thoughts?

If I am paying an employee 40 million dollars, I would want to know how many times he shat himself as a toddler...that is alot of scratch.

Hey Dirty...he was suspended FROM HIS COLLEGE TEAM for Lying to the NCAA....he didn't graduate.... so there are reasons to ask about his character. Would you pay an employee a top wage, after he was suspended from his previous job, without questioning his character/background?
The fact of the matter is that Dez is becoming part of a "Brand." The local media would definitely have dug this stuff up and tried to make a big story out of it. All the GM was trying to do was ensure the integrity of the Dolphin brand. He could have done it a more tactful way, but who knows what was really asked. Obviously the Cowboys have/had worse issues, and they are willing to spend the $40MM to get him on the field.
If my own job depended on his stability and probablity to get into trouble....HELL YES! You would rather someone making a 40million dollar investment in a person, not to ask because it is a tough question? I think the question itself was worded wrong, but the Root Cause of the question is totally valid.
It's business dirty... businesses check credit scores of employees, drug test, poly graph etc... to pre screen employees. We aren't talking about working the grill at Burger King here.
Last word!
That is because Mike Anello doesn't have to interview for jobs....jobs interview for him!

See also: Tank Johnson, Ben Rothlesberger, Pac Man jones, Mike Vick, Santonio Holmes ETC...this were all big money guys that had previous issues. I think It is SMART business to ask important questions about his values...his Up bringing, his relationship with women (his mom) etc. I agree the Dolphins GM could have been more discreet with how he asked the question...but he is paid to protect the Franchise investment, and the League Image
When someone asks you if your mom is a prostitute, how is that not disrespectful? I'd be curious to see if Adrian Peterson was asked questions about his family's past. He is a proven example of someone who had a tough background..
Here is the thing he asked if his mom was a prostitute. He did not call his mom a prostitute. And if i am not mistaken dez's mom will be living with him. what kind of people are going to be in and out of a house that dez is going to pay for. what will they leave laying around?(crack, coke, firearms, etc) You have to check into these things. Brian Billick said u only get 15 min in the interview. So u might have to dig hard in some cases. How would u feel if worse case senerio your NFL team drafted him(mine did) and within 2 years say he is locked up for illegal gun possesion. say someone called his mother a prostitute in this mans living room and there was a altercation. now he has a gun on him for protection. this is a buisness first.
Translation: You clearly don't think Dez's Crack selling mother and absent father Could negatively impact him later in life. Hopefully it doens't and he doesn't get into any trouble....like get suspended when his college team needs him.....oh...wait...that already happened. I clearly made my point, if you apply for a BIG JOB... you WILL get asked uncomfortable questions.... this is fact, I am not saying he should have been happy about the question, or even answered it. The NFL isn't a normal job, it is big business with one of the most productive commisioners, in recent memory, with holding players accountable. If I am drafting a player, with my first round pick, and I am going to pay him the amount of money his draft position demands, I am going to make sure of all possiblities that could occur. Bottom Line...
Jeff is drafting Dez, not his family. Everybody has one person their family they aren't proud of, should that reflect back on you? I wonder if Dez was white would Jeff Ireland ask that same question..
