What's the perfect schedule to get ND to an NC?

I would rather watch us beat up on a couple cupcakes a year and make it to a title game than to watch our team get drained emotionally and physically every week by top tier teams and not have any shot at the title.

Like LMI said, with all the talent USC has coming in, you still see the effects of exhaustion and emotional drainage, and an even tougher schedule is supposed to alleviate this ?

Consider LSU last year, they were arguably the best and the most deserving team in college football. But it was by a freak chance that they made it into the title due in part to a historic year in upsets near the top of the rankings. They played a tough SEC schedule agaist four ranked opponents and for it suffered two losses which, had it not been for these upsets, put them out of title contention. Imagine what would have happened to them had they played six ranked teams. No shot at the title.

I would rather play tough games and get beat up. Have to learn how to work with some depth and play harder in order to better the ND athletes than skate to a NC game. Its not all about the NC. Its not merely the end, its about the journey to get there. Big picture, not small picture at the end of the tunnel.
