For the Maddow lulz. I haven't cross checked this yet, but a lot of tweets are suggesting along with Fox that this contract was signed in December under Biden because Tesla submitted the cheapest bid. Some are saying Trump has suspended the order for now too.

Looks like nothing was ever set in stone, the State Dept under Biden was looking to contract for an armored EV vehicle and only one company was interested in the contract. Nothing was formalized, and Musk doesn't even appear aware it was out there. The State Dept now says there's no plans to pursue this. Forbes isn't sure if this would have been for the Tesla truck, but it's presumed it would be.

One of the most insane things of the last administration is their “rural broadband” initiatives which have done effectively nothing to actually connect people to the internet.
Meanwhile, Musk had won a contract to provide Starlink to people and after he started supporting Trump they rescinded the contract on dubious grounds and gave it too a much more expensive vendor who — to my knowledge — still hasn’t provided any internet to anyone.
