more i think about it i really would be surprised if quinn took the job....maybe he's trying to get a raise from buffalo, but like mentioned from all accounts he's doing decently well there and if he were given another chance as a head coach it wouldn't be that much greater than his current position.

i unfortunately think this is more and more pointing towards Borges with hopefully Denbrock getting the nod as OC

I'm sure BK would be selling this to Quinn as a chance to climb higher in discussion for better HC jobs. It just depends if Quinn wants to go sideways or maybe even backwards to ultimately land at a much better HC opportunity then Buffalo, a West Virginia type job IMO is in Quinn's future.

Quinn JUST re-upped his contract in like September I think. Buffalo isn't gonna give him ND OC money I don't think. He may very well not come here, even if offered, but I don't think this is about leverage.

Yeah, just looked it up and Quinn was recently extended through 2017. On the one hand, it would be disruptive for his program for him to take an interview so soon; on the other hand it's hard to imagine ND buying out a contract like that for an OC.

Can't imagine the buyout is all that much - I'm talking in the hundreds of thousands, not millions.

Look at Diaco, he took last yer's stacked D and played it into a UConn job. To do that Quinn has to Kill it at Buffalo the next 2-3 years (he's had one good season I think). At ND if Golson comes in and he kills it for 2 years, Quinn likely gets a job like UVA/WV/Etc. Plus he makes way more money and has a shot at being part of a title. Sounds like a good move to me.

If Quinn were to get a HC interview at a major, one would think it would have happened this year. He's taken Buffalo from 2-10/1-7 to 8-5/6-2 which included respectable losses to Baylor, Ohio St, Toledo, and the MAC winner Bowling Green.

Al Borges admittedly was at UM. But he isn't a spread guru. I'm surprised anyone besides an up tempo coach would be on that list.

How sweet would ending the rivalry with Borges tearing UM a new one be? I could see him like Hiestand, stuck with a shitty hand at UM but with a good past.

Prayer thread for Quinn please. I'll take Borges as a QB coach, but please God, Quinn.

Quinn please!! Those Cincy offenses were unbelievable. Did Kelly call the plays there? If we got the Borges from the Ohio State game maybe but not for the other 11 games.

And if he doesn't work out, the skunkbear smugness would be unbearable. No thanks.

His base pay is $250k. He then has a 250k buyout. ND can afford that.

I would think that if it comes down to that, he's a no-brainer from a ND administrative POV. Puts the ball entirely in Quinn's court which is how it SHOULD play out.

living in Buffalo, Quinn has a no pressure job. He hasn't had great success but good enough for UB, were more of A basketball school anyways. That being said, seasons like this last one are too rare to help push his career fwd. I always believed he wanted the experience of HC on the resume and then take steps up the prestigious ladder. Successful coordinator, successful HC without Kelly, back to successful coordinator at a major university, will open more doors than 2-3 more years at UB

If he's truly interviewing, Its a strong indication Quinn is coming. UB is a dead end job, I don't see how they will attract the talent necessary to make significant progress. Most of the quality talent in Wny goes elsewhere

What about the OC from Auburn. They have spread power run game and could be a great fit at ND

The OC for Auburn played QB for Malzahn when Malzahn was coaching high school in Arkansas in the late 90s. I would be shocked if that guy left Gus's side so quickly.

I personally dont think Quinn is coming. He has had 2 chances and better situations for him to come be the OC at ND and didnt come. A good 2014 season at Buffalo, means he will get a good look at another program in 2015. I dont know what Buffalo has coming back, and he may have had a great senior class in 2013, but I cant see it.

Im not opposed to Borges at all. Michigan was a little rough for him, but ask yourself this....how many kids on that Offense would have started at ND last year? Gardner maybe? Lewan would have started somewhere along the line. Thats about it. Hard to win games without talent. He does have a history of incorperating his offense and making changes, but that didnt happen at mich and certainly wouldnt at ND. He can add different things to BKs playbook that would only enhance the offense.

I dont know anything about Don Patterson haha.

Starting to look more like a ploy to help his buddy at this point, especially after that tweet above, so I kind of agree with you.

Also Gallon probably would have started or had significant playing time. About it.

Not opposed to Borges huh? So hire a OC that just got FIRED from your rival plus you turn down the Bama OC? C'mon man.

But why risk alienating the existing ND offensive staff by hiring an outsider over a guy who isn't going to run his own offense? Quinn can be justified due to his extensive history with BK. But other than that, I can't see anything other than promotion from within. And I can't imagine Broges coming in as QB coach only.

If the other coaches can't be professionals, then they should just resign. They haven't exactly done anything to clearly deserve the job.

Says who? You? Perhaps they feel differently, which is the ONLY thing that would matter should they feel alienated.

What makes you say he can recruit? All Michigan fans I know say he was disinterested as a recruiter, at best. Rarely went out on the road, if ever, and wasn't key during on campus visits either.
