Not familiar with the guy. Who is he? What's his background?

Lol. I’d be fine with that swap. Unless Alford has lost his fire.

Nd has a better backfield, which he built, a brighter future, and a vastly better head coach to work with. Not sure I see the appeal for that move.

The better backfield is debatable if that Ole Miss RB goes to Ohio State like everyone is saying.

McCullough is a Youngstown guy. Probably grew up dreaming of Ohio State. I'd hate to lose him.

Also if OSU fires Alford because of these Michigan loses then that means the panic has really set it. He is a fantastic coach.

As a Youngstown native, less people like Ohio State here than you’d think.

I would say scapegoat more than panic. Someone has to be responsible for their failures on offense when it matters most, and it won't be Hartline or Day.

Has Ohio State hired their theoretical new OC yet? Would be weird to hire an RB coach before your OC.

Also it has been pretty widely reported that DMC aspires to be a head coach. Hard to see how a lateral move to coach RBs at Ohio State gets him there. Alford has sat in that job for a long time with the same idea and never made the jump.

Didn’t ND just do this at WR coach?

Can’t imagine Deland going the Alford, RB coach for eternity-way, so that swap wouldn’t be terrible. Only if we knew we have Deland for 3+ more years would I not accept that trade.

We didn't know we were replacing our OC though.
Personally, I think Denbrock may have already been on the line when the Mike Brown hire was made. Don't think it's coincidental that he ended up with his former QB and WR coaches.

I doubt that is true. I have zero proof, but I suspect that Freeman told Parker to find another job.
That may well be. In which case he was also probably talking with Denbrock, as Rambler said, which may be how we wound up with Denbrock's old WR coach.

Yea, this is definitely part of the theory. Prister on a recent episode indicated Denbrock called Freeman. After Parker left Brice said he had heard that people in the Gug were "hoping he was going to get another job". Best guess is it was move on or possibly be demoted and remain on staff.

Denbrock called MF before Parker moved on? This is a critical detail.
