Skalski didn’t last long last night vs VT. He was in street clothes for the second half.

Per Dabo 4 days ago, Ngata "is still out but is getting better". Ladson, another dangerous guy, is "day to day".

So Clemson is primed to come out hot, but we aren’t?

As long as we aren’t reading into the positive press clippings,

we should be equally motivated to prove ourselves to everyone.

Losing shouldn’t be an option worth contemplating considering the heavy lean

that historically favors SEC teams.

Also, as a matter of pride, the players should be very aware of the major asterisk

on their win against a Clemson without Trevor Lawrence (and injured defenders).

ND should be confident, but also ready to show they can take it next level.

Syracuse proved that they still have traces of playing to the level of their competition.

Time to play up and beyond.

Well this is interesting. Pat Fords thinks two ACC teams who played TEN games, and ALREADY CLINCHED a spot in their CCG getting a game removed is the same preferential treatment the Big Ten is giving Ohio State who played FIVE games and DIDNT EVEN QUALIFY for their title game permission to play in their CCG. He even goes as far as to say the ACC basically opened Pandoras Box.

Funnily enough, even after cancelling the Wake and FSU games, ND and Clemson are still playing the same amount of games as Florida and Bama...

The players believe, which IMO is huge. They've shown it since the Clemson game, not sweating mistakes and playing with confidence and at a higher level. They will be up for Clemson and although I have no doubt they realize the asterisk and how difficult it will be to win twice against a top team, they think they can. I'm with them. ND going for the W and gaining a tad more respect.

I guess we’ll see who plays but as of today, I’m at it being competitive game with ND coming up just short.

That close of a game at home without Lawrence would seem to give them the advantage on a neutral field with Lawrence.

Disagree. If you recall, the 1st game should have never gone to OT. The offense left quite a few points on the field -- I want to say at least 11 or so. That has NOTING to do with TL. If ND plays a clean game on offense and Lea does his thing on D, we can very much win this game, with or without TL. That said, does the O actually clean up their act? I'm sure Book won't be fumbling inside the 5 and Mayer won't have quite as many Frosh farts this time around...

I am hoping for a potential confidence boost - knowing you can do something versus thinking/hoping you can do something. We smashed them in the trenches - I expect our lines to be locked and loaded.

To be fair, we can't bank on a pitch 6 either. The miscues went both ways it's going to be a great game. I'm worried about our new center against that Davis DT who also is back for Clemson. Either way we're worried about if we can beat Clemson twice in the same year, what a great problem to have.

I didn't think we had a very good chance the first time around so...my opinion probably doesn't hold weight. But I think our revamped OLine is going to struggle a bit with a fully healthy Clemson front 7. Our defense is going to have to be lights out because I can't see Book and the receivers putting the offense on their backs. We have to contain Etienne again, he cannot go off. Keep receivers in front and make them go 10-12 plays to score, force them into fg. We have a chance but I'd like our chance better with a fully healthy OLine.

Anyone else remember how many of their players were banged up/stopping play? We physically beat them on both sides of the ball. When is the last time that happened to that team? Hoping that memory floats around the back of their head sowing seeds of doubt.

My biggest concern is Trevor Lawrence running the ball. Uiagalelei didn't leave the pocket at all. Supposedly Clemson was very concerned about his non-throwing shoulder and didn't want him taking a hit so they didn't call any designed runs for him. Even though TL isn't super fast, he is very effective the 6-8 times he runs the ball per game. If the ND defense sells out to stop Etienne again, TL could hurt us with his legs.

On the plus side, I still think that Clemson defense is not as good as they normally are and I feel confident in ND being able to put up points on them. Should be another close game.

It was a lucky bounce but it's their fault for running a pitch play on #6's side of the field.

This just sucks. Having to play a top 1-4 team twice, possibly three times in one year is insane.

This is like LSU having to play Bama twice the year they won the NC.

Or OSU playing...well scratch as OSU never plays anyone conference wise

Right on, I'm not worried about them I'm worried about us. Our OL mauled them in the first game. Lugg and Correll both aren't 100% and even at 100% they aren't as good as Patterson. The question is whether we can execute an offensive gameplan like we did the first time around. We've had 4 snap miscues in the past 2 games after zero through the first 8.

This. The mental makeup of this team is championship worthy.

These guys aren't going to roll over. Clemson has some motivation, but our lads do as well. They want to prove to those who said the game doesn't count (Clemson was missing TL and several stars on D), that the win wasn't a fluke.

Kramer being back will help considerably. Book just keeps getting better and better. Keep them one dimensional again and a win can be had.

My concern too is that the media made SUCH a big deal about Clemson losing that I couldnt imagine Clemson not having extreme motivation to show it was just a fluke with their best players out. Honestly, I worry it wont be that close of a rematch and then we have to listen to the OSU loving media talk about how ND is overrated and doesnt deserve to be in playoff contention, etc.

Not just the tOSU loving media....practically all the media. I think the fair-minded media truly expects a competitive game b/c of the first match up. But if ND shits the bed, there’s no argument for ND fans to argue against “same old overrated ND”

Let's take a "Glass Half Full" approach. ND was rusty enough and made enough mistakes in the Syracuse game to give the coaches fuel for 2 weeks of run up to the ACCCG. 2 weeks to fix issues and get as healthy as they can. Also, against a team ND is somewhat familiar with already and has done it against already while leaving points on the field. Plus, Clemson basically got and A+ performance from the QB position and lost.

Sunshine will score from 45 yards out on a sneaky keeper and he'll hit their TE down the seam late to ice the game. These types of plays worry me.

That is a good point as well. Had they just rolled thru SU w/ the same stout run defense we’ve enjoyed all season & an offense the ran at will, they may go into the bye week complacent. There should be plenty of teaching moments on film as that was likely the defense’s worst game of the season & the OL is struggling to gel w/ new starters who are also battling injury.
