Good Lord. This world we live in. What's most troubling is the amount of these kinds of comments you see, even on this site, and people think it's okay and they are being "really funny". The mindset is the biggest problem.

I have a daughter. I cannot imagine how angry I would be, or what I might do, if she received messages such at this from boys solely because she shared some good news on the internet.

I'm seriously not looking forward to the day my daughter will encounter creeps like this, and I know it's going to happen. Kudos to Curt for standing up, because we need more repercussions for Internet trolls like this in our society. Nobody should be able to hide behind a monitor and say such outlandish statements that you wouldn't say to someone's face.

Good for Curt. He hits the entire issue squarely on the head.

Great link, thanks for sharing.

Resisting the urge to start spamming Brookdale Community College and Theta Xi's Facebook pages, just to make sure they're aware of the tremendous characters that they have in their midst.

Good idea, especially for this "DJ" who shouldn't be behind a microphone for one more millisecond.

Wow, I'm so glad we're having a boy instead of a girl. If my son ever spoke to a girl like that I would stomp his ass!

I've got sons and a daughter. I'm thinking that us fathers need to start a new tradition with our sons to be passed down from generation to generation...you have "the talk," and then about the same time you have a discussion about "the Internet." "People can see what you write, they can find you, and the Internet never forgets. Do not bully other people, don't send nude photos of yourself because they will be posted and embarrassing things can follow you your entire life, don't say anything to someone on the internet that you wouldn't say to their face, etc."

That's insane. I work with all men (Fire dept) and the shit we say to each other is brutal but tweeting to a father you don't know, about his daughter is mind blowing. The stupidity of people never ceases to amaze.

Yankee fan, Democrat from Jersey here:
Never been a fan of Curt, but he is 100% on the ball here.
I hope both of those schools step up and punish those scumbags.

Someone should just post the article on the social media pages of the frat (yeah, I said it) and BBC.
Maybe email it to a Dean.

I also dread this day! Sad that this is common in todays society and people have nothing better to do than make others feel like shit.

Looks like "The Sports Guru" had his account suspended on Twitter. "Hollywood" isn't turning up at all with a Google search, he might have had to go underground  Also looks like Jacob Robbins' Twitter account is deleted along with "Justin Time." I hope they get more than account deletions though.

I'm not sure what's the best part of this:
1. These tools got called out on their BS when they've probably done it 100x before without any consequences.
2. The people with power to do something (i.e. the college listed above, etc.) are stepping up to the plate.
3. How terrible of a writer Curt Schilling is... but the point comes across great because you can tell it's entirely genuine. Just a guy being a dad.

I once gave a guy a pretty good beating on High Street in the middle of Columbus for making a comment about my daughter . Best part is his buddies called the cops and the officer asks what happened and I tell him. He says to me that punk had it coming and gave me a ride back to my hotel. Hell I don't even play football for the Bucks lol.

I'm not an expert Interwebs Sleuth, but I'm not sure Curt has the right guy when he outed "Hollywood" as the VP of the Theta Xi chapter at Montclaire St. University. Unless their records are old, the VP on their Facebook and website doesn't appear anything like the guy in Schilling's screenshots. Hopefully that dude doesn't wind up with a bunch of unnecessary backlash.

Wow - I have a sixteen year old daughter that is a fairly good athlete. There is a parent in the school system where she plays that takes a bazillion pictures and posts them constantly. I had to have a conversation with her recently about putting my daughter's picture all over social media. Idiots like this are the reason.

Good for Curt for calling these guys out.

...what schilling did is about the best you can do. Its one thing to hear the generalized talk about women that guys engage in. We've all heard it, or been exposed to it. But for these guys to go at him specifically about his daughter...those are the kind of people that need to be asking people if they want fries with that for the rest of their lives. I'm glad this will chase them around and haunt them for ALL of their remaining days.

That kind of conduct isn't just goofing around, and if I ever found that on a background search, I'd make damn sure I shared it with my business allies and competitors alike, as well as to all hiring authorities for federal civilian service for outside hiring, and all recruiting details in the military. NO ONE with that level a character deserves a break in any way shape or form. If it were my daughter...ooooooh. Would be damned hard not to wage silent war on them until they are pushing a shopping cart around talking to street lamps.

HOME | Guyland: The Perilous World Where Boys Become Men

Guyland is based on more than 400 interviews over a four-year span with young men, ages 16–26. Kimmel’s study shows that the guys who live in “Guyland” are mostly white, middle-class, totally confused and cannot commit to their relationships, work or lives. Although they seem baffled by the riddles of manhood and responsibility, they submit to the “Guy Code,” where locker-room behaviors, sexual conquests, bullying, violence and assuming a cocky jock pose can rule over the sacrifice and conformity of marriage and family. Obsessed with never wanting to grow up, this demographic, which is 22 million strong, craves video games, sports and depersonalized sexual relationships. In the end, Kimmel offers a highly practical guide to male youth.

I think he did a fine job considering the last writing class he had was 30 years ago at a so-so public school in Arizona. You were really expecting more?

As someone who works in the web development industry, I think talking to kids about how they interact with social media and the internet is just as important as talking to them about sex and drugs. In fact, one could make an argument that the internet can bring far worse and longer lasting consequences.

You can have a child when your young but that can worked through with the help of family and friends. You can also have an addiction that can be beaten back. Sadly, the way the internet works, this kid is going to have this action follow him the rest of his life and there is nothing his friends or family can do to remove it from the archive.

Making things worse, the streisand effect digs an even deeper hole.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, There's not a lot of positives in using Facebook, Twitter, etc.. Most of the time it's because someone wants to share their opinion and we all know what they say about opinions and assholes.

Curt was on Dan Patrick today. He knows the names/locations and in many situations the names of the parents of the people that responded rudely to his daughter. Many kids have already been kicked out of school. Very interesting conversation. Catch the podcast if you have a minute.
