So, Blazers 46, darn you (in a decidedly non-pejorative way) for thou has impaled me on the horns of a dilemma

And after thought (I generally avoid it, preferring the immediacy of irrational blurting) I have a job for you.

and for reasons of Catch -22 (in Heller's original sense, not as misnomered since)

National Commissioner (czar/tsar) of mental health counseling and social work for people under 21.

Remember Catch 22

You are classically trained in the field
You are experienced as a worker in the field
You walked away from the practice "why I don't do it anymore>"

And here, Mr. Blazer I am as serious as a heart attack. YOU are PRECISELY qualified to serve the post. Not to go Too Sergio Leone, but you, more than any one I know, know the Good the Bad and the UGLY.

Of course I don't have the power to install you in the post, but I am convinced, beyone the shadow of reasonable doubt, to expund and expand upon the matter.

Good on ya!

Cack, please do me a solid.

Be GOOD to Cack. That will help you continue to do what you do regularly, empower posting while keeping it between the guard rails.

Now for Blazer 46.

First, You posted something about your degree and background in counseling.

Second, I demurred with extreme prejudice.
Third, you came back, but like a gentleman, and said that I might be surprised at your views and there were reasons why you had left the profession.

Fourth, I came back after I had reflected on CATCH 22, the original Concept of Joseph Heller.

I am scared of diagnosis of teens as bipolar this, syndrome that, and terrified of the ensuing prescriptions.

And I think Shlomo Freud was the biggest charlatan, coked up or not coked up, in history.

Ike railed about the Military Industrial complex,.

I fear the "psychobabble/overmediication" cartel who make Ike's Military Industrial complex look like Ham and Eggers.

They will loot the government of every cent, and they are, de facto, a cost plus industry.

But you know the territory.
You studied it and got the masters academically
And yet, Blazer, you left it.

Therein the Catch 22

Only one who studied it
practiced it
quit in disgust

is qualified to be the CZAR of Teenage mental health in the United States, or any country.

I hope this isn't too garbled. It's a big national threat and people are distracted by jejune culture war issues

Cack should be removed from being a moderator, he is clearly biased and cannot make objective decisions. IE has years of his biased opinions as evidence. 'liking' someone is not a legitimate qualification for being a moderator.

Bro, if you get booted the socialist Biden regimen will see your ban as an excuse to execute all of your social media. Cack is now more powerful than the United States Constitution.

My brother (Democrat and fellow licensed Social Worker) tells me all the time I know enough to be dangerous. Basically my theory with social work/psychology and all the social sciences is that they have ignored a lot of facts and past theories that don’t jive with their social justice stances. For example, There was a day you needed a father figure and mother figure in the house but that didn’t jive so they changed it with really not a lot of data.

Also over medicating makes me sick. Why are we even taught the skills we have if we just throw pills down their throats. Then you have the social worker that over does it and over social works a kid. Gives them all these coping skills they know cannot carryover to real life. Imagine an adult going to work and telling their boss they need to keeep their air pods in because it helps them cope.

Also the goal of any child taken away from their parents is reunification. Parents can screw up for several years abs be given millions of chances. Sadly if you beat your kids or if you have a meth house that has exposed your kids to meth just tear off the bandaid and just work toward getting the kid a stable life. Reunification is a joke half the time.

I’m no czar, just found we weren’t really helping anyone. And the pay sucked.

Lol.

I legit wanted to do the running up the stairs thing. Turns out the statute got moved to South Philly. I got a picture somewhere of me sitting on top of it.

The placement at the Art Institute was for the pleasure of Mr. Stallone, not patrons of painting and sculpture

Oh, come now...Stallone not only helped drive attention to the Art Institute and Philly itself, he's brought tourism, income, and added pride to the city! How many people come each year and run up those steps and visit the local sites? I remember when James Rolfe (Angry Video Game Nerd on Youtube), somewhat of a famous Philly resident himself, did a video where he toured all the Rocky locations and talked about their history. It may have been a work of fiction, but the original won the Oscar for best picture and rightfully so. They should have left the statue where it was, but at least it still remains in some capacity.

The "Rocky" run

From the "Rocky Steps" Wiki:
At the ceremony, Philadelphia Mayor John Street said that the steps were one of Philly's biggest tourist attractions, and that Stallone, a native New Yorker, had become "the city's favorite adopted son"

Sounds like a bunch of city officials who had no idea what that movie has done for the city decided it wasn't "art" and had it moved to the Spectrum before the building was torn down. At some point it was moved to a side garden around the corner from the museum I think.

"After filming was complete, a debate arose between the Art Museum and Philadelphia's Art Commission over the meaning of "art". City officials, who argued that the Rocky statue was not "art" but a "movie prop", eventually moved it to the front of the Philadelphia Spectrum."

After Rocky oppressed Apollo Creed, it probably would have been toppled in the peaceful riots anyway.

You’re a bigot if you don’t want this shoved in your five year olds face. Let the Nickelodeon drag queen read it with a hard on.

You could just... not buy the book?

I remember Ren and Stimpy being on Nickelodeon and my mom didn't let me watch it. Weird how my parent was able to control what I did and didn't watch/read.

Same, had cousins that tried showing me Ren and Stimpy when I was a kid lol. If you had a bingo card for terrible parents it would include - Complains about "participation trophies" (even though they're the ones who buy the trophies for the kids), allows their child to go onto Amazon to search out a book that talks about pretty advanced items, kids spend too much time on electronics but I'll buy them an IPad and then resent them because they like using it etc.

The irony here being teaching children about acceptance so that when they grow up they aren't people who say "let the Nickelodeon drag queen read it with a hard on" when faced with issues about LGBTQ+ people.

Fun how you tried to agree with Gower but only contradicted him. The problem is, with it being in circulation, my kid's "cousins" could try to show them these books I don't want them to see. Or perhaps a Kinder or 1st grade public school teacher. Or perhaps in my real life experience letting my kids pick out books to read at Barnes and Noble and one of them picks this one up. My 7 year old literally said to my 4 year old, "Hey I can read you the (pause)... Gay BCs? That's weird"

And then, as a parent, you could remove the book from their hands... I bet your kids won't even remember they touched a "gay book."

In no way did I contradict him. If you're saying that my cousins trying to show me a cartoon show that would introduce me to topics/words that I would find out in a couple years later is some of "gotcha" - lmao

What a horrible scenario that would be, god forbid they read a book on acceptance. What is the worst they could find out in the book? Statistically, someone in your extended family is going to be gay/LGBTQ, how do you explain to them that Uncle Jim has a husband?

West Virginia Law Banning Trans Students in School Sports Blocked in Federal Court

NICK SELBE12 HOURS AGO News is always free on SI. Register to have it delivered to your inbox daily.

On Wednesday, the American Civil Liberties Union announced a federal court has issued an injunction against West Virginia's law banning trans students from participating in school sports.

The ruling comes months after the ACLU filed the suit on behalf of 11-year-old Becky Pepper-Jackson, who wanted to try out for her middle school cross-country team but was barred from doing so.

“I am excited to know that I will be able to try out for the girls’ cross-country team and follow in the running shoes of my family,” Pepper-Jackson said in a statement released by the ACLU. “It hurt that the State of West Virginia would try to block me from pursuing my dreams. I just want to play.”

West Virginia Governor Jim Justice signed H.B. 3293 into law at the end of April amid a swell of similar legislation passed throughout the country.

“Becky — like all students — should have the opportunity to try out for a sports team and play with her peers,” said Josh Block, senior staff attorney with the ACLU LGBTQ & HIV Project. “We hope this also sends a message to other states to stop demonizing trans kids to score political points and to let these kids live their lives in peace.”

While the injunction does not overturn the state law, it's a signal that the judge believes the plaintiff has a strong chance at winning their case. Presiding judge Joseph R. Goodwin of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia wrote in his order that the plaintiff "has a likelihood of success in demonstrating that this statute is unconstitutional."

“At this point, I have been provided with scant evidence that this law addresses any problem at all, let alone an important problem,” Goodwin wrote. “When the government distinguishes between different groups of people, those distinctions must be supported by compelling reasons. Having determined that Plaintiff has a likelihood of success in demonstrating that this statute is unconstitutional as it applies to her and that it violates Title IX, Plaintiff’s Motion for a Preliminary Injunction is GRANTED.”

You are obviously NOT a parent.

No, but I was raised by 2 good parents. My parents didn't want me looking at porn, still got my hands on a copy of Playboy in 5th grade because that's what kids do. However, as a parent you still have the greatest control on what your kids learn, see, watch, read, etc. Just remember, they're gonna see things in life without you to stop them because you don't like it.
