Reminds me of NLCS in 2003 Cubs had a 3-1 lead over the Marljns...

My Facebook feed (lots of Cub fans) has been a hilarious rollercoaster. 10 minutes ago they were doing the death march, now they are back to chest thumping.

God bless you brother.

And the lord surely blessed you with Cubs fans as friends.

We are always ready to jump from the cliff.

Good thing this young team believes.

They really do believe, and some little birdie must have told them in the 9th facing Cueto in an elimination game is a bad idea. May not seem like it now, but that flurry might have propelled them to a title.

This was my thought exactly. Beating the Giants who were 10-0 in elimination games and the modern dynasty in San Fran in the manner they did was HUGE! I am not saying they will but I could easily see them sweeping or winning a 4-1 series over either the Dodgers or Nationals. I think this win took off loads of pressure and was a huge confidence booster

Nope.we'll have to earn our stripes.

Nothing comes easy here on out.

Nats have a Cub killer in Murphy.

Let us not forget the Mets sweeping us last year.

Who knows...

Every postseason run has unexpected things. In the end, I'll take 3-1 and the chance to fully set up the rotation for the next series. And Rizzo looked like Rizzo last night. Only a matter of time, but it was nice to see.

A year and a half ago, I was suggesting that Cubs dump Baez and get whatever they can for him. I would've never guessed that he would have the kind of series that he just had against the Giants.

Javy is the man.

He might be the most skilled defender I've ever seen. Not the BEST defender yet (though he could be), but perhaps the most skilled. Incredible.

From a neutral standpoint I don't know where I stand with all this, it would be SO bitter sweet to see the Cubs win the Series... a piece of American history would almost be lost if they won it all...

Imagining a world where they are the World Champs is just,.... strange.

Just ordered a slew for the crew.

Gotta have it for my buddy's to sign when they win game 6 at Wrigley (hopefully against the Indians). Then I can frame it and put it next to my Santo jersey.

I hear ya, and am not thinking it will be a cakewalk. I am just sharing what I am sensing. Could be dead wrong, have been before. I have been a Cubs fan for over 30 years, so I tend to error on the side of caution as do most Cubbie loyalists. But I just sense something different about this club and that victory over the Giants will be big in not just moving them on the next round, but to the inner confidence of overcoming adversity against the team who wears that badge and is the dynasty of modern baseball. Plus, people can say what they want about them being expected to win the World Series, but I think going to the NLCS takes lots of pressure off in that they cannot end this year any worse than last, even if they were swept (which I don't see happening at all this year).

Personally I expect the Cubs to come out swinging (pun intended) against whoever we play in the NLCS. So I stand by my 4-0 sweep or 4-1 NLCS series win. And since I am in prediction mode might as well go for a WS prediction while I am at it. Cubs 4-2 over AL Champs. I think they will come down a little from their NLDS high, and have to fight more for the WS title, but will just be too good to stop. Of course with all that said I will gladly take a 4-3 NLCS win and a 4-3 WS win. But I might die of cardiac arrest before its all over if they make the WS and each series goes 7 games.

Their biggest hurdle is out of the way (Best of 7 with their deep rotation is an even bigger advantage now). It isn't the Giants were the best team they will face the rest of the way, it's the Giants had the best chance of beating them of anyone based on the series being best of 5.

*I honestly don't know if they would have beat Cueto limping into a Game 5, but that doesn't matter now. They took care of business.

Agree with all of this. Doesn't mean a Cubs win, but the 5-game series is one of the quirks that makes the best team lose so often.

Amazing bottom of the 8th. Grand slam and back to back HR's I'll take it all day. Especially after the sh*tty ND game

This team literally doesn't give a fuck off you tie or take lead. Love it!!!

Still some questionable managing decisions but continues to work out.

I live in Wrigley and for years I've always had mix emotions about the Cubs winning it all. I always said that the celebration would be ridiculous. After experiencing the neighborhood go absolutely bonkers in '13 and '15 when the Hawks won the Stanley Cup... I thought "wow, if wrigley gets this reckless over a hockey team who has already won in the last five years...I don't wanna see how they would be if the team that actually plays here and hasn't won in over a century wins a championship." Hopefully they do it but there's a lot of police supervision in and around my neighborhood. :)

Took a trip to Chicago before the season and made it a point to go to Wrigley. Love the fact that the stadium sits slap in the middle of a neighborhood. I could only picture what a celebration would be like if the Cubs win the whole thing.

Because Wrigley is in a neighborhood, when I've taken the L into Wrigleyville it's like going back in time. The first time I went to Wrigley I felt like I was in the 40s. Then once I saw the lights on top of the stadium I came back to the present.
