Hope they don't go after any of those guys...all past their primes.

And also with the way the Cubs have been w/ International players this season I wouldn't be shocked if they landed Gonzalez

reported yesterday we pulled out, price to high and he wants to be in playoffs this year.

olt baez and Bryant in outfield????

the cubs just moved alcantara from short to second for baez i dont think you move a stud short stop for a kid who projects to of at major league level

Baez has 36 errors already this year and Bryant is 6'5". I think Baez can be an infielder but it's far from certain. As for Bryant, the scouting reports are not glowing with respect to his D and his extreme height makes me pessimistic he can make the improvements necessary. Basically, his bat will be MLB ready long before his glove so I don't think the Cubs are going to Ryan Braun him and make him play 3B witht the big club when he is rough there.

EDIT: and Alcantara is blocked at SS in the majors by Castro. Olt seems likely to stick at 3B. John Sickels has praised his D there; but at the same time his athleticism has been criticized. So I think the risk is there that he won't hack it at third.

i think baez protects at second personally but a lot of the so called experts think we deal Castro before all is said and done so who knows it isn't like he is error proof himself.

as far as Bryant i agree abouthis bat compared to fielding its hard telling.

does Rizzo get it going against lefties? i could see Bryant at first.

I'm hoping olt or vitters get it together and finally make the perm move to the show ifnot i can see Castro there say we find another true short first

he is a stud. but him and Soler are still in low A. i would imagine next year start at high a then finish in double.

but i would love to see them progress faster if they do

I still really like Rizzo's swing. I think he's going to be more than OK. I also think it would be a shame to waste Bryant's arm at first base. I've heard he has a cannon.

Olt's issues are supposedly vision related and have been resolved... he has been killing the ball over the past couple of weeks in AAA. Sadly, I think Vitters and Brett Jackson are done.

i agree on Jackson, vitters may still have outside shot but i agree his chance is fading quickly.

how does Bryant run? he seems like maybe right field if anything too bad in nl

well i doubt we hear something official this late

really hope we get a decent return if we pay all the remaining portion of fonzi salary.

if it includes a boat load of international money and a player that may be alright depending on the player

Yes, games like this are what kill me...just don't seem to have the killer instinct

yeah i thought that last half inning we could have really made some noise.

double
walk
then we let barney swing away? ith castillo valbuena behind him i would rather attempt sac bunt so you go third second with one out

instead we go 6-3 double play then castillo bombs double and we only get one run

upsetting for sure

Alfonso Soriano traded to New York Yankees from Chicago Cubs - ESPN New York

f the estimated $24.5 million Soriano is owed through the end of next season, the Cubs are going to pick up about $17.7 million and the Yankees will cover the remaining $6.8 million, sources said.

Better than paying the whole portion which was what it sounded like yesterday.

"It was great when I used to be with the Yankees," Soriano said. "My best friend with the team is [Derek] Jeter and he's still there. Mariano [Rivera] is still there too. And me and [Robinson] Cano are good friends, too, because we're from the same town. I could feel very good with the Yankees because I've been part of the family before with them."

He's 11 hits shy of 2,000 for his career and 11 home runs short of 400.

I hear Hee Seop Choi and Mark Prior are still available as free agents, Cubs fans.

The Chubs will be looking up at the Cards for the next 5-10 years as Mozeliak positions them to be title contenders year in and year out.

I'm not sold on Rizzo. He's young, but his batting average.........WOOF. He doesn't have enough protection in the lineup to only hit .250 and help the team win. And Castro looks like garbage at the plate.

The potential is there. But this team won't be like '03 for another 3-4 years. And there is no guarantee it'll pan out that well.

I just don't see it.

(Go Cards!)

How can two of my favorite posters (Rack and Wooly) be Cards fan. Something in my moral compass must be way off.

why all the card trolling?

It's not trolling if you're actually the best...

I'm in Chicago for law school but grew up a Cards fan in MO. I pay close attention to the Chubs (for fantasy baseball, because they're in the NL Central, and for pleasure).
