My wife, my children and I all got tested Wednesday. Three of us had minor symptoms and tested negative. My one child, who has had no symptoms, tested positive. This thing is confusing.

Keep an eye on yourselves, my friend. One negative test doesn't necessarily mean you're negative. Variables include the tester's skill at doing the brainin', the type of test run, as well as the course of the virus (if you actually do have it.) This is, indeed, a confusing virus.

BTW until proven otherwise, I continue to believe that barrel-proof whiskey and cigars help fight off the CoV. (Sort of kidding, keep taking your vitamins, eat good stuff, and get your rest.)

Just spoke with my dad this weekend who was needing an ankle replacement. He has been coordinating with his doctor for over six months to get it and it was finally scheduled this month. Now his hospital is at capacity with covid cases and they won’t do his surgery as it’s considered elective even though at this point he can barely walk.

The testing is garbage. And it has been. You had that one female singer that got tested. For what ever reason they did on in each nostril and one came back positive and one came back negative. The only thing I could think of is that one swab wasn’t deep enough. So the. Why isn’t there a line on the swab to say how far to go.

Just read that new positive cases top 100,000 for the 27th straight day. That’s 27 x 100,000 = 2.7 million. Considering that 100k is the minimum for that stretch and some of those days the new cases were as high as 205,000, the total is probably at least 3.3 million cases over the past month, or 1% of the US population. That’s pretty wild.

Got a test done today (what a weird experience, man they just go right up there eh) after having chills and body aches the past two days. I got tested at one of the major TO hospitals and there was no line which struck me as concerning.

Going into lockout round two now, supposedly this is from our Thanksgiving a month ago.

After experiencing some American holidays you guys do them the best. Hopefully you guys enjoy an unreal Thanksgiving and Covid doesn't damper it too much.

Damn, "braining" is an applicable term. About a month ago I was having my first run in with diverticulitis, and a bad one too. For whatever reason the doctor decided to have me do a Covid test too, and I was not expecting the mind probe. They shove that son of a bitch waaaay up there! I was completely unprepared. Felt like I was violated...

Depends on who makes the kit. Our first test (Wal Mart self administered) had an indicator on the swab. It didn't go up that far. My second test (doctors office) it felt like they were scratching the bottom of temporal lobe. My third test (CVS self administered) didn't have an indicator, but I stuck it up fairly far even though they said it wasn't necessary.

Everyone got tested again? Or new results on same? The False Negatives are a concern, sending someone back into high-density situations who may also be asymptomatic or that the person feels they can drop any protection.

Now everyone in my house is positive. I’m the only one that had a symptom. I was really tired one day last week, and that was it.

I had cold-like symptoms for a few days and didn't think anything of it due to the lack of fever, plus I was sneezing and that's not a covid symptom usually.

Then a day after the "cold" ended I lost my taste and smell, tested positive the next day.

It's a weird feeling to lose your taste/smell. Never had a significant fever or even coughing. One evening my knees both hurt, which was odd.

Out of covid jail a week ago. Yet not a single person I was around before my taste/smell loss tested positive.

Sense of taste came back after a couple of days, then I realized that my sense of smell had returned today when I was peeling some oranges for my kids, who are also quarantined obviously.

The most dangerous aspect of COVID has been the fact that I likely brought it home to my wife, as she has been working from home and developed symptoms after I did... and she got it worse than me. She had the full flu-like experience over the weekend with fever, body aches, migraine, etc.

She’s feeling much better now, minus still not being able to taste or smell either, and has been guilt-tripping me at every opportunity.

For real, though, I feel fortunate that we got off relatively lucky compared to others that have dealt with it.

If you go back to some of my earlier posts, I mentioned how bad Hawaii's 2020 flu season was. There was a week where all hospitals were full, all EDs were going on divert, and we had staff dropping like flies. It was the worst flu season I've ever seen, and with hindsight, we wondered if COVID made an early appearance.
