The difference between most conspiracy theories and truth is about 6-12 months.
I’m expecting the fact checks of Tom Cotton and Joe Rogan to get corrections soon. Thousands of posts unbanned. Authoritarians have some apologizing to do.

Don't subscribe to the "No Meat on Fridays" during Lent. It doesn't make sense in the West in the 21st Century. Beef and pork were originally a fine delicacy and rare in the Middle East, but fish was obviously a staple which is why it was allowed during the Easter season. These days seafood is the luxury item while beef and pork are the big part of our diet. You're better off just picking something else to give up, like chocolate, pop, etc.
Sounds like an excuse. Go enjoy some shrimp

Heads would pop if the US admitted to collaborating on bio warfare with China. Imagine when citizens realize that their tax dollars helped fund a worldwide pandemic. That's why there's been such a push to squash lab leak theories.

Meanwhile, three years later and I'm still waiting on that pangolin or an explanation for the FCS insertion unseen anywhere else in nature.

February 26, 2023 New York Post article "Covid lab leak is a scandal of media and government censorship."

Here are some direct quotes from the the New York Post article(Covid lab leak is a scandal of media and government censorship):

"For years, the media and government allied to treat anyone raising a lab theory as one of three possibilities: Conspiracy theorist or racists or racists conspiracy theorists."

"Academics joined the chorus in marginalizing anyone raising the theory. One study cited the theory as example of "anti- Chinese racism" and "toxic white masculinity."

"As late as May 21, 2021, the New York Times, Science and Health reporter Apoorva Mandavilli was calling any mentions of the lab theory as racist."

"The Lancet op-ed stated, " We stand together to strongly condemn conspiracy theories suggesting that Covid-19 does not have a natural origin."

"No reference to the lab theory was to be tolerated. When Sen. Tom Cotton(R, Ark) merely mentioned the possibility in 2020, he was set upon by the usual flash media mob. The Washington Post ridiculed him of repeating a "debunked" coronavirus "conspiracy theory."

"The categorical rejection of the lab theory is only the latest media narrative proven to be false."

"On the lab theory, Media like the Washington Post piled on Senators like Cruz and Cotton for mentioning the lab theory only later to admit that it could be legitimate."

"By suppressing alternative scientific and policy views, the public was denied a full debate over mask efficacy, vaccine side effects, COVID origins and other important issues. Many of those questions are only being recognized as legitimate and worthy of debate."

"Censorship does not, as President Biden claims, save lives."

Shocking. LOL. Actually not so much.

I didn’t think that was in dispute? I thought the dispute was whether it was made in an attempt to spread it deliberately. Our similar lab had a collection of every known biological agent and up to a few years ago. The lab on Aberdeen Proving Ground regularly uses such agents in experiments to study ways of defeating them. Was this an experiment gone wrong, an accidental exposure or something more sinister and deliberate? In my opinion it was an accidental exposure in a laboratory that was carried by an infected person into the population. Something that spreads that rapidly and persistently, as a weapon, would inflict as much damage on the aggressor than the targeted. Unless China had a vaccine before Covid hit the population, it would be a pretty dumb weapon.

I think initially when Trump made the suggestion it came from a lab there was a lot of pushback. I don't know who came up with the theory first, but the media started suggesting it evolved naturally from bats or some such. A purposeful leak just doesn't make sense though, you're right there. Why knock out hundreds of thousands or a million+ of your own population? We'll never have accurate numbers what happened in China.

Na, not an excuse. Just makes sense really.

“I was told that fish was acceptable for two reasons. The first being when Jesus blessed a couple fish and loaves of bread, he was miraculously able to feed 500,” said Gallavan. “The second was due to the fact that it wasn’t practical to ask people to give up such a significant part of their diet.”

The fish miracle is a bit of a stretch, but it makes sense that Middle Easterners would include fish still in a "no meat" fast because it was a huge staple of their diet. As I said, in the West in the 21st century it doesn't make as much sense to exclude beef/pork for the same reason. We're better off fasting from something else that would be a delicacy or luxury here, like seafood, alcohol, chocolate, candy, etc.

I don't think we will ever have a good grasp on the number of infections that occurred in China. IIRC, they weren't letting any news out. Seems I remember at one time the infection rate they were reporting was well below what every other country was reporting which raised eyebrows.

Exactly. Ground zero for the pandemic, most populated country in the world and they reported something like...5% of the numbers of the US? Bollocks.

I've been genuinely depressed by what's happening in our world regarding MSM, government, Big Pharma, Big Tech, etc. I have some thoughts to post, much of which will be an off the cuff recollection of events. Bare with me.

TLDR; Covid was real, the response was bad, the disinformation and corruption have ruined public trust and it may never recover which is truly unfortunate, and we're likely to never see those responsible held to account. How do we proceed as a society, the most powerful at that, with such disarray and chaos amongst ourselves and our institutions?

(I'll come back later to edit my post. Got called into work...)

Edit: The TLDR version will suffice for my rant. I don't have the energy. lol

It almost exclusively takes out the old and infirm. Why would anyone think China is above killing off it's least productive? Not saying that happened - just kind of amazed at benefit of the doubt given any government but especially China. What a great cover for killing off some folks you didn't like too - isolate and eliminate, oops Covid - shrug.

Why would anyone give ANY government the benefit of the doubt? Power corrupts.

politics can serve as a surrogate deity for the godless. sadly, i have a few friends who look to politicians (trump, bernie, desantis, yang - hits both ways) to be their savior and they are unwilling to accept that their favored son is actually selfish and cares nothing for them.

Bloomberg ran for President of the US with this belief here and no one batted an eye. "Got to rid ourselves of those drainers."

Lots of Malthusians amongst the ruling elites, particularly the Greta loving Davos crowd. With that level of disdain toward the unwashed masses .... maybe balking at a rushed to market, experimental "vaccine" should be considered common sense?

I am moving soon and had a going away party this weekend. I have a very open-concept home here in NM and there was a couple that refused to come in saying my square footage probably is not conducive to social distancing. I am not sure if they were trying to poke at my house and stick her nose up or if she is stuck in 2020. The couple is probably 25ish years old. Great people, I was just shocked by their reasoning for not wanting to come inside.

They are not great - they are either dangerously stupid and at risk of forgetting to breath or grand standing virtue signalers who haven't moved on to Ukraine yet.

I agree. There is something particularly pathological with these types of people. I see this sort of derangement on both sides, but in regards to Covid, these "great people" are all 6 shots deep and finger waving to everyone about "following The Science TM." It's truly mind boggling.

Imagine a world in which the MSM and leading experts in a field can say "Water is dry and the Earth is flat" and half the population not only rushes to agree with them, but bans, censors, scolds, fines/fires employees in order to prove their superiority.

We still have to wear masks around patients and in public areas. However, we can take them off in our own offices, the break room, conference rooms, or other offices. Explain that. What is the point? No one wants to be doing it, but everyone is afraid of losing their jobs if they refuse. It's enforced because of the few people who have become authoritarian-like in their own hypochondriac skin and feel the need to control everyone else as a way to make themselves feel superior, both morally and intellectually. It's F'ing psychotic.

I was particularly fond of the science that deemed cigarettes, donuts, lottery tickets, Little Debbie’s, vapes, CBD oils for your cat, weed, and booze “essential.”

Nothing screams “science” like ensuring Americans were able to buy those things, particularly at a time when scientists were so worried about “our health.”

But hey, I guess if you wore a mask to go buy those items, it was fine because you were 100% being sciencey.

We are supposed to wear the in the ambulance with the patient and at the hospital when we are in the room with them. But it’s rare anyone does it anymore.

You forgot to mention that a million people died while all this was happening. Kind of a big oversight.
How come America had the absolute worst death rates of the entire globe. The richest country in the world with the most expensive well educated doctors and scientists in the world had the absolute worst outcomes. How come ever since the jab the death rate of the healthy has been on the rise. How come the media turned to Bill Gates to get the word out about the vaccine instead of legit virologists who actually did the work and studies. How come they pushed pharmaceutical propaganda instead of the facts about the short cuts taken in producing the jab. How come all the major media outlets lied that the jab would stop transmission. When there was either no conclusive evidence to this or were straight out lies.
