Coolest Guns you have fired?

Take the wife to a range, and rent a couple different models. I did that for my mother and it worked out well.

Regardless of size, definitely recommend a Glock 9mm. One of the most reliable, if not most reliable gun out there. Easy to customize and cheap to shoot.

If you still haven't bought one by Christmas time, and want to hit the range, I'll be back for a few weeks to paint the interior of mom's house and can let you play with her toys. My cousin (who was both sheriff and marshal) has a nice collection we could take as well.

Definitely want her to try them out before deciding.

I'm also looking into the Sig P365. I went to the range with it the other day, along with the new Hellcat and the Shield m2.0. I liked the Sig the best with the Shield being a close second. Didn't like the Hellcat at all.

I believe after you register on the first screen you choose after that. Make sure you choose the personal protection and not the hunting and target.

I love my P365, but I also like the Glock 43. Sig cornered the market for about a year with the capacity in a single stack size but now Springfield Armory has the Hellcat that holds 1 more round. Haven't shot the Hellcat yet, but hopefully will soon.

I show the Hellcat, P365, and Shield 2.0 consecutively at the range. I liked it the least, actually. I liked the Sig the best, but I actually shot the Shield 2.0 a little tighter. I'm leaning towards the Sig...just waiting for a deal somewhere.

I hear a lot of good with the Shield from people that have shot it. I'm a Sig fan so I am partial to the P365, but with any Glock I shoot tighter. Springfield is probably my least favorite when it comes to the big manufactures of Sig, Glock, S & W, and SA, I've just heard some good things on the Hellcat. I would keep an eye out on Palmetto State Armory. They have had some decent deals on the P365 lately.

When I first started carrying I had a Springfield Armory XDs. I have since changed to the Sig P365. It is similar in size to all of the single stacks but carries 12 rounds. I have no complaints with the P365. The XDs just never felt right when carrying. All in all it is about preferences though.

Even with the extended magazine, it was just too small to grip comfortably. Then I went through 250 rounds on a Glock 43 (I had bought six boxes of 9mm), same problem. They didn't have a 43X to shoot, but they had one for sale so I was able to hold it, and it felt great in my hand. That said, I don't really like the Glock trigger. It feels gummy and the trigger safety gave me a blister.

Thoughts?

• Subcompacts are backup guns (which you don't need given your line of work). Don't give up on finding a compact that suits you yet.
• It's a mistake to overrate "hand feel". Guns are tools, and should be evaluated based on performance. Use something like the test described at the bottom of this page to determine what you fire best.
• I understand the appeal of a single-stack, but I've had no issues comfortably concealing my G19 when necessary. Might want to give that a look if you haven't tried it yet.
• Most polymer pistols come with garbage stock triggers. Apex Tactical's replacement trigger kit is the most popular and affordable among Glock owners. Installation is easy enough to handle on your own. You might try to find a G19 or a G43 with an Apex trigger for testing.

keep shooting other guns until you find one you like. do not buy one you arent satisfied with.

One option is they do have the extended mags on the sig sauer website to make the grip longer and give you a few more rounds as well, or you can go with the Springfield Armory XDs that already comes with extended single stack mags.

I've fired a G19 but I wasn't any better with it that I was with the 43, and Connecticut has a 10 round limit on magazine capacity. So I'm not sure the 19 is any better than a 43X. My goal isn't "as small as possible," but if I'm limited to ten rounds anyways, I don't see any point in getting something bigger.

I'm wondering if I'm just spoiled. My Springfield Range Officer stock trigger feels absolutely incredible. It's light and crisp with a well-defined wall. Maybe I'm just expecting too much and such a thing isn't possible (or safe) with a striker-fired weapon.

I used one of the extended magazines and I didn't like the feel. Too loose and hard to drop the mag.

Taking a LR rifle course in May with little bro, who has not shot more than 20 rounds in his life. Also in a huge sell-off and buy mode lately.

Sold a few shotguns to coworkers. Bought an O/U and a 20 gauge Mossberg for a kids turkey gun.

Picked up a SAINT AR10 topped with a Vortex 2.5-10. Took my Armalite AR15 and am getting it cut down to 11.5" and bought a can. Should be fun-and a little bit of a wait.

Sold Springfield XDSC in 9mm. Picked up a 43X.

Sold my 308 model 10 bedded in a Stockade stock with a 6-24x50 Vortex to my brother. went shooting today at 100 and he was printing .6 to 1 MOA. Made me want that gun back. I threw 3 downrange and printed a .3 group. Hoping he can continue to improve before the class.

Bought a 45-70. Cut the barrel, threw a brake on it, worked the action. Topped with a TR24.

Bought a Bergara HMR in 6.5mm. Should be a fun gun. I'll be shooting it next week. Topped with a 6-24x50 Vortex.

Also bought a new Savage 110 30-06 Ultralite. New gun with a trued and printed action. Topped with a Vortex 3-15x44 Vortex. 5.8# rifle with a Proof barrel. This should be a hoot to shoot-I'll put a APA brake little bastard on it.

'Nuff for me. At the moment at least.

Went to the first LGS, they have a ticket system and my wait time was six hours. Went to a second LGS, they were sold out of everything. Finally got to the third LGS and spent two hours on hold with the state police to facilitate the purchase. Very happy with it though.

Now if I could only find some 9mm in stock somewhere.

If you're inclined to upgrade it, most Glock enthusiasts recommend:

• A good set of night sights;
• An improved trigger; and
• A new base plate to either improve control or pull speed.

Has anyone tried out a Hatsan shotgun, specifically the Escort DF12? "Traditional" shotguns are basically all sold out. I think that's a nationwide thing, right now, just like PPE, hand sanitizer, and toilet paper.

Has anyone used the CZ P-10c? All the reviews I'm seeing say it is a better version of the G19 for about $50 less. Only downside would be the amount of accessories that are made for glocks

Yeah, I'm sure I'll end up regretting this in ten years, but it was love at first sight. Right now it's my left (front) shoulder that's bothering me. I won't be shooting off-hand for awhile.
