NC AD: So Bill, you've outlined an innovative roster building program that calls for *checks notes* 80+ portal transfers annually. wow. but what about high school recruiting?

Kinda makes sense - ultimately he wants control, and colleges give coaches that moreso than the NFL.

Certainly wouldnt have guessed UNC as the fit tho lol.

Griese is the Niners QB Coach. Are they counting on him to bring Shanahan's secret sauce to Ann Arbor?

That's kind of an interesting hire. I don't know what to make of it.

Other than F*ck Michigan

The cynical side of my brain is that this is a pure leverage play, that he wants a particular NFL job that’ll be open this offseason and wants that team to shit or get off the pot.

If I had to guess, probably NYG, Cincy, or JAX.

Utah, New Mexico: Utah is set to hire New Mexico's Jason Beck as its new offensive coordinator, a source tells 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz.

Beck led the way as New Mexico ranked fourth nationally in total offense this year. Before New Mexico, he was the OC at Syracuse.

If I was UNC I would pursue Fran Brown. He would do amazing there, the hurdle would be if he would actually leave Syracuse but enough money, and the opportunity UNC would provide would get this done.
Yeah Fran is going to be a goddamn dude.

We had some discussion in this thread about Fran Brown a year ago when he got hired.

When Schiano went back to Rutgers, Brown was the first guy he hired on this staff. That says something. The guy has recruited well at some tough places. I like him.

He also said when he was hired last year he was "there for life." Should be interesting.

Does this mean Whittingham isn’t retiring?

Stanford: Sacramento State head coach Andy Thompson is stepping down to join Stanford's staff, a source tells 247Sports' Brandon Marcello. He reunites with head coach Troy Taylor. Thompson served as Taylor's defensive coordinator previously at Sac State.

He's on the record about being pretty anti-NIL/against the transfer portal, and the results this year speak for themselves.

Bit of a "come to Jesus" moment like Jack had with Kelly after 2016. Get with the times or get out, etc. Don't see how him being resistant to NIL would give them "cause" under any coaching contract, though.

He's taking the Dabo stance, which is admirable but also coaching/program malpractice in todays current environment. Okla. State should be killing it in the portal even if Boone Pickens isn't around to be writing checks.
